Edited 11 months agoOne of the roughest pressings for my favorite album last year. The budget cut from 3LPs to 2LPs wasn’t the only downgrade apparently. With the exception of Side A, all of the sides have very fuzzy to nasty distorted highs by the end of their run. No issues with the pops or crackles since I’ve cleaned it extensively, it’s just BAD. It’s a shame since it sounds fantastic other times.

it's a brilliant album, one of my favorites by swans. however the vinyl pressing is really compressed at times which fudges the dynamics (quiets don't sound very good, louds sound fuzzy). i recommend getting the cd edition although i think i perfer this track list

Anyone else notice how on the vinyl there's an instrument missing on Ebbing? Not sure what the instrument is called but it shows up about a minute-and-a-half in on the digital release. I took my pressing to like three different turntables to see if it was just my system but it's just not there.

Not sure how such a bad product is still released these days... Horrible pressing, noisy, bad and inconsistent mastering, some parts are done well but some are total trash. Distortion and surface noise across the whole record. Seriously, WTF?

Unfortunately I have a big issue with all of the track The Beggar on side A. No visible scratch but there is a very very loud tic/pop on each rotation for almost the entire track (louder than the music itself!). Really cant play that at all, still waiting to get a replacement, theyre pretty slow with customer .

i didn't seem to have the same experience as everyone else. mine sounds fine. it was dirty upon opening for sure. the album itself is beautiful, but i keep finding myself back to the raw slow sound era of swans. still recommend picking this up however.

Ordered direct from Young God. Vinyl looks good, had to give it a bit of a clean but plays with no surface noise whatsoever. Poster wasn't signed but included was a signed card insert.

okay, here's my experience so it's not all bad news: I got it at a big retailer, the one everyone hates. Came shrinkwrapped, with hype sticker, card and poster (of course no signature). The albums were a bit dirty (somebody with greasy hands probably packed it) but nothing serious after a superficial cleaning. Both records sounded fine, I didn't notice any distortion on either disc and no big scuffs or anything that would cause any clicks or pops. All in all a 9/10 based on the fact it was dirty.

Yes, Salty pressing indeed. I'm sorry, but this is a disaster. I could live with some of the cracks here and there (and there are LOTS of those), but on the C/D record, there's basically a GAP punched from both sides and I was actually scared to run my needle over this. By miracle it didn't skip, but the bumps are very audible and annoying. I'll ask for a refund in the form of the EU release Swans - The Beggar, if possible. And from the code you're getting only MP3s, no lossless format.
I recommend to avoid this pressing. -
Terrible pressing. Surface noise galore. The LP's are scuffed and dirty. Side C had a big audible scratch. I got a replacement, but that one has a 'tic' along most of side C (but it is not visible). Where was this thing pressed???
