Reiterating what Marcos said earlier about the mastering being all over the place, YRP, especially on the ear-grating highs. Then again, this album as a whole is kind of messed up, from conception to release, it sounds like an abandoned tape, akin to 7 Rings that I wasn't supposed to listen to, that it was thrown away for good reason. So in that light, it really added to my enjoyment of the experience, as muddled as it might be.

I got my copy off of Bandcamp, so is that why I didn't get the back side signed and instead, a small card copy of the album cover with the opposite blank side of it signed? I'm also not seeing a card.

Sounds a tad muddy on a few of the louder (or weirdly mixed) songs (YRP, Fan's Lament, All Lined Up, etc.), but for the most part it sounds great, and The Final Sacrifice sounds a whole lot better than on streaming.

Edited 8 months agoI don't think the poster included with this album is actually A2. I just took an A2 poster of mine out of its frame to put this one in, and it doesn't fit in the frame at all and is considerably larger than my actual A2 poster. I also measured it and it seems to be at least a couple inches bigger in both the height and width departments. Not sure how to go about framing this now. Hopefully it's still a standard size...
Edit: It's 18"x24". Fortunately I happened to have a spare frame of that size as well 😁 -
It sounds like it should but why the fuck did they change the tracklist. I don’t care if it’s one song, when we’re talking about arguably the greatest concept album of all time, it fucks up the pacing and the overall flow of the album.

Wow....just wow. Amazing pressing for a timeless, beautiful and haunting album. This album is likely holding a spot in the best of for me, forever....and on vinyl, no words. It sounds incredible.

Edited one year agoI've had an old CD version of this album for decades and now I've bought this vinyl reissue.
It looks very beautiful, but that is the only reason to buy it. Those who want this vinyl edition because they expect it to have superior sound quality (comparing to the original CD version from the 1990s) may be rather disappointed. There's a lot of distortion in the louder parts, not present in the CD, and a few mastering glitches here and there. Still a pleasant listening experience, but my old CD sounds much better. This vinyl edition came with the codes for this album plus "Die Tür Ist Zu". I have ed both FLAC and MP3 versions using that code. I will listen to them soon. I suppose they will match the original CD editions. I have also bought the 3-CD edition (because of "Die Tür Ist Zu") — I will compare both editions later as well when that CD I've bought arrives. I only have "Die Tür Ist Zu" in its newer vinyl version, which sounded excellent and came with a code as well. I'm rather disappointed to see this 4-LP doesn't sound nearly as good as the 2-LP "Die Tür Ist Zu" vinyl. I don't have the old "Die Tür Ist Zu" CD, but its digital sounded as good as my old "Soundtracks for the Blind" CD, so I expected the vinyl for "Soundtracks for the Blind" to have similarly high sound quality like the vinyl edition of "Die Tür Ist Zu." -
the grand majority of this album is filler, drone is cool and all but it gets a little boring after an hour and a half (blood section my beloved)
i dont agree this is their best but its pretty cool -
Edited 2 years agoReissue on Young God... anyone have it yet?
Cover text corrected? Mastering issue with YRP and Fan's Lament fixed?
I have questions that need answers before I pull the trigger on this or buy a Mute copy on eBay. -
If anyone can link me to a polysleeve that this bad boy will fit in I would be eternally grateful. Got the Gira signature on this thing and it's on my shelf between two sleeved LPs, but I'm still nervous about it degrading
