I purchased this reissue at Target as I love the idea of colored vinyl and I also loved this LP when it was first released in 1988. I also recently purchased the Whitney Houston reissue in peach vinyl and I'm Your Baby Tonight in purple vinyl. All three were purchased brand new and sealed but all 3 had flaws throughout, making them all a huge disappointment. Pops and crackles, surface noise and skips on all 3 - talk about poor quality pressings!!! Probably won't be playing these on my Victrola SONOS $800 turntable much at all but can still enjoy the cover art, liner notes and seeing the Arista label against the beautiful colors.

Terrible mastering.
The sound is like It's like as if you're an extra in one of their music videos but you get fired, kicked off set, walk back to your car, they resume filming the video and you hear the music blasting from the parking lot. -
Edited one year agoSo this is a one star pressing. I gave it one star because I like the blue white swirl pattern. The LP looked clean and flat. The problem is that the volume is too quiet when I have it cranked, there is some consistent surface noise and more importantly there is NO PUNCH, like, at all!! Returned and refunded.

Why on earth is this cut so low?!?! Come on guys. A 30th anniversary reissue should have some life in it!
-
Nothing wrong with my pressing. Sounds better and much warmer than the regular blue version if you ask me.
-
This is a lifeless pressing. It really does sound like an mp3 pressed to vinyl. It’s bass heavy and compressed. I’m really scratching my head at why BMG has done such a bad job with her reissues. Do yourself a favor and stick with og pressings from ‘87.

This is a beautiful reissue. Love the touch of the embossed name on the cover, and the additional liner notes and photos. My 80s copy was dished and skipped on the leading tracks on either side. Love that the color goes with the cover, like the VMP release of her debut album. Sounds great, looks great!

The press itself is fine - it's flat, quiet, and the color has a nice marbled effect, but overall it's really unremarkable. It's clearly been cut from a digital source given the lifeless quality most of the songs have. I have a much older press of this album I was hoping to upgrade and swapping back to the old press, even with the scratches it has from years of wear, it's noticeably more dynamic and Whitney's voice is up front, where this press it feels like she is buried in the back.

I heard these songs all the time everywhere, and forgot how many standouts are here! Excellent sound. Quiet between tracks and vocals are clear. Beautiful treatment of this Whitney Houston re-issue.
