Like everyone has already said, this is just a beautiful pressing. I have a first Canadian pressing as well and this one is better. I haven’t compared it to any modern remasters because this one sounds perfect to these ears. Don’t hesitate to grab a copy.

What to say that hasn't already been said, this pressing is INCREDIBLE!!! I had a 1st US for years, this one puts it to shame. As good as you can get on vinyl.

This sounds just like - well almost that is - like the first time I heard this album … all subsequent releases - especially when the obligatory remaster sticker is added - always seemed to take away some/lots of the power and punch my first encounter had: bass AND drums… well this one has the punch and the power, it may not have the superimposed 3D of the latest editions but it is much, much truer to the original WALL experience …. Highly recommended

My goodness. This thing sounds like butter. Might be the best sounding record in my collection. No notes.

My first Japanese pressing of any record. WOW. This is insane. Lucky to find a near mint copy with a very clean jacket. I’m comparing to the 2016 release and aside from being totally silent (minus 3 low sound pops) compared to the constant pops of the new pressing it just sounds better. The dynamics are so refined and balanced compared to the in your face cut of the 2016 pressing. The Japanese pressing never looses control on the highs or lows on every mm of the wax. You can push up the volume and it keeps composed. The 2016 pressing lacks this finesse and quickly looses its range when pushed. Like others have noted the drums moves throughout the speakers and seem to fill the room. Such an important part of the recording. Every instrument is separated that creates a 3D experience. This pressing is so good with such a refined presentation that it transforms the album into something I can listen too much more than modern cut. It’s clear but warm with great lows, mids and highs. It moves you with the music rather than forcing you to listen due to be louder ages on the modern cut. Maybe it’s the analog process vs digital? I can’t recommend this pressing enough.

I guess it is that time to add my two cents. I bought this new @ GNP Stereo, Pasadena, CA in 1983 with my friend who bought the MFSL Dark Side of the Moon. LOL. Its my best piece of wax that I have. As an earlier reviewer stated, its got that analog goeyness and warmth and oh so quiet. I have never AB'd it against a British press but I really dont care. It has only been played 1/2 dozen times to tape.

Even on my modest set up the clarity, instrument separation and soundstage dwarfs my New Zealand pressing by along way (which I thought was pretty good initially). Much to love here.

It's the drums, they are so clear and punchy on this press. Other sounds come through clear, excellent soundstage. Preferred to my UK first...
