What a beautifully performed, recorded, packaged, mastered and pressed record. It may be the best Tone Poet yet and that's saying something!

The sax and the trumpet sound out of this world great. The drums are quite good. The bass is typical for BN - it has much less presence and sometimes gets lost in the mix. Unfortunately the piano sounds even worse than usual on BN records - it's like Barry Harris was in the kitchen playing an instrument covered with a blanket (plus there are instances of pitch instability here and there). Still, when you put it on and Dexter and Freddie start blowing, your heart stops for a second. They're so real in their presence you almost want to great them with a nod.

Real good album indeed. The trumpet sounds so coppery. The gatefold jacket doesn't have a picture of Freddie Hubbard though. And of course : 5 stars.

This is potentially the best sounding album I own. I have a number of Tone Poets, all of them excellent listens, but this one goes above and beyond.
