Wow! Wow! Wow!
Dexter Gordon & Freddie Hubbard really shine on this pressing. Amazing sound stage; it's like they're playing in my living room. -
-
What a beautifully performed, recorded, packaged, mastered and pressed record. It may be the best Tone Poet yet and that's saying something!
-
Absolutely amazing record musically, recording and mastering-wise too! The pressing is flawless as well, can’t get much better than this.
-
This is absolutely incredible. It’s like they are in the room with you. Everything about this is perfect.

Edited 2 years agoThe sax and the trumpet sound out of this world great. The drums are quite good. The bass is typical for BN - it has much less presence and sometimes gets lost in the mix. Unfortunately the piano sounds even worse than usual on BN records - it's like Barry Harris was in the kitchen playing an instrument covered with a blanket (plus there are instances of pitch instability here and there). Still, when you put it on and Dexter and Freddie start blowing, your heart stops for a second. They're so real in their presence you almost want to great them with a nod.
-
Real good album indeed. The trumpet sounds so coppery. The gatefold jacket doesn't have a picture of Freddie Hubbard though. And of course : 5 stars.
-
This is potentially the best sounding album I own. I have a number of Tone Poets, all of them excellent listens, but this one goes above and beyond.

Do I really need ten words when I only need one to describe this stunning release displaying the best qualities in jazz musicianship, recording, mastering, pressing and packaging? *Awesome* There, I did it.
