This may be a stretch- but I read somewhere that the UK version of this album contains an alternate mix of Jesus Was A Crossmaker- supposedly a guitar is present throughout the track (as opposed to the US release). Can anyone comment on it?

Compared this to a clean first press. For the softer acoustic songs at the start of the sides like Crayon Angels and Ridge Rider they both sound great and clear. But as you get closer to the end of the sides, songs like Jesus was a Cross Maker and Enchanted Sky Machines this double 45 really stands out. Less compression, fuller bass. Jesus was a Cross Maker starts sounding tinny and AM radio-ish on the original.

Does anyone know if this is a dedicated mono mix or a stereo fold down?

didn't blow me away compared to the 2003 cd version. i think i noticed slightly less high-end? idk if that's a good or a bad thing. probably more accurate to the intended sound, i suppose. perhaps that's all in my head, though.

it's a really well-made reissue and actively in-print unlike the '03. i don't think you'd regret spending the 30 dollars or so this costs.

the disc being a hybrid SACD is nice. ing judee's family is also nice.

Since nobody has mentioned yet, the sound on this pressing is wonderful. My copy sounds quiet as well.

Like every Intervention release, this is perfect. Self Titled is much more sparse than Heart Food but this pressing still sings from the heavens. I can't believe how good this sounds. Get it before it goes out of print again!

I’ve got the MOV pressing of this album which sounds great. So I was a bit hesitant to buy this album because (I thought the quality couldn’t be that significantly better). Boy was I wrong. This is a completely different record: lifelike, up front, much more detailed and a truly analogue warm sound. Invention Records deserves to get an award for this. Totally worth the price. I’ll be keeping both. If I don’t feel flipping sides I’ll spin the 33. When I’m more adventurous I’ll caress the 45.

Absolutely fantastic pressing of this wonderful album. Amazing. I have moved onto Heart Food now, which also sounds spectacular.
