Common runout groove etchings (Invite Only)
Guidance:
1) Searching for a string: Press CTRL and F and then enter the search string.
2) Do not split the runout strings up into stamped and etched parts - they should be left in one line.
3) Please enter the runout strings as they appear (e.g. all caps, wide lettering) and only use gaps as separators (RSG §5.2.c).
4) Please use ANVs or Aliases according to the Guidelines.
5) Don't include the studio / company as part of the signature or as ANV. Example: For "BA@CR" or "BA-CR" credit "Björn Almstedt" + ANV "BA" as the engineer and "Cutting Room" as studio in the LCCN field.
6) For engineer credits derived from the runouts, use Lacquer Cut By (with some exceptions).
7) Any studio/ company mentioned in an etching should be credited as Lacquer Cut At (with some exceptions).
8) Direct Metal Mastering (DMM or similar) should be credited as Mastered By [DMM] and Mastered At.
9) Half-speed mastering credits shall be credited with Lacquer Cut By/ At.
10) Platers / metalworkers are credited with Plated By.
11) Plating / galvanization / metalworks companies are credited with Mastered At.
12) When unsure about a specific role use Mastered By / At.
13) Mastering credits on the cover and scribes in the runouts should both be credited. Example: Mastered By Bernie Grundman (cover) and BG in runouts = Mastered By - Bernie Grundman,
and Lacquer Cut By - Bernie Grundman + ANV BG.
14) Unicode symbols are allowed in the matrix string when they closely represent the runout symbol. A good source is Copy Paste Characters (external link).
15) Only easily reproducible Unicode characters shall be used as engineer's PAN or ANVs. Symbols or drawn images such as ✩, ⚾︎, or ❀, ♀, etc., shall not be used, not even as ANVs. They are added in the format "Lacquer Cut By [Runout Etching <symbol>] plus the full name of the engineer" (Example: Lacquer Cut By [Runout Etching ⚾︎] - Greg Calbi). When in doubt about a symbol, inquire in this forum.
==> Discussion about "Symbol PAN" is found here.
16) Logos / logo types should be added in the runout strings as [Name Logo]. Example: [SNA Logo].
17) For combined identifiers with symbols, i.e. ◇F (symbol for the cutting room + letter of the engineer), and where the PAN is known, use an Alias or ANV without the symbol (e.g. for ◇F: Lacquer Cut By - Bill Foster + ANV F).
How to read the format:
XXXXX: Identified part in the runout area
S, H or HS? Stamped, Hand-etched or Hand-etched Script
Add a company: Lacquer Cut At / Mastered At / Pressed By / Manufactured By a company.
Add a credit: Lacquer Cut By / Plated By / Mastered By an engineer.
Location Link: Existing company website. Not needed on the submission - just a point of reference.
Example: A linked example.
