Like zacksparrow said, and it makes sense due to the time period this album was released in and the fact its a pop band, it just generally sounds cruddy due to it just being digitally recorded. The plus side is that it sounds clean and it's loud.
-
The reason for the bad quality on this record is the mastering itself. This album is atrociously mastered, and was super compressed from the get-go. I'd imagine it was recorded digitally, but barring a full-on remaster, this record will always sound horrible.

it's bad. the quality of the music is bad. no way it's 180g that gotta be false advertising. felt like 120g at MOST

I've waited 11 years to own this on vinyl. Whilst I'm thrilled to actually own it, it's a little bit of a let down.
With a 180g 2xLP pressing I was expecting something special, the actual sound quality is very poor and sounds like a CD rip.
Avoid if you're a purist.
If this was a single LP release I wouldn't feel as disappointed, but for 180g 2x LP at nearly £30 with delivery fees, it's a huge let down. How label's can get away with this i'll never know. -
Anyone want to bet this will be of the same paltry quality as the 2013 and earlier-2016 pressings? Those pressings were an absolute crime against vinyl; willing to bet this will be more of the same, given UMG's recent track record.
