The blue smoke pressing sounds excellent. Quiet, no surface noise. Composition-wise, this is my favorite Lost Themes release; It's the darkest and most intense of the series.
-
I have the black vinyl pressing from 2016. I purchased it new/sealed. Plays dead quiet. No pops, clicks or surface noise whatsoever. My favorite tracks are “Angel’s Asylum” and “Bela Lugosi”. Fantastic record!

I just got this black pressing and popped in on the turntable. Lots of surface noise. Grooves appear to be off-round too. I don’t think I’ve ever bought a new record that was this bad. And I have over 5000 LPs. Hopefully other colored pressing sound better. Or this is reissued with better vinyl quality. Agree with others, vol II is better than first lost themes

For me, This one blows away vol. I easily. THIS is what I wanted all along. Dark, ominous, & foreboding. I feel Vol. I had too many vibes that lacked these traits--not bad, of course, just not dark like Vol. II.

Edited 4 years agoI got the black LP as well. Lots of noise and surface scratches, unfortunately. Cleaned it, doesn't help. The composition is really great, but the noise is a real issue.

I am also having issues with the black pressing. I ordered on Amazon. The first copy I received was full of noise, so I filed for an exchange. Unfortunately, the second copy I received is also full of noise. I'm at the point of giving in or returning for refund. Anyone have luck with other pressings?
-
i dont understand how the quality of the pressing could depend on the colour of the vinyl. Maybe it is just that black pressing is not provided with antistatic sleeves
-
The black pressing is not good. My first copy had so much noise I asked for a replacement from Sacred Bones. They were nice enough to send me one, but unfortunately the replacement is still of poor quality.
