Anyone know the difference between this one and the US version? Both seem to have the same barcode, but the US version has zero matrix info.

Edited 4 years agoUnquestionably the best pressing currently available. Side D is unnecessary and skippable, but allows the album to be spread out on 3 sides (which is absolutely needed). Cut loud and has a nice punchy low end, never overpowering. Pressing is solid. While not outstanding, much better than the US pressing from the same year. I assume they use the same lacquer cut but it's not clear. There is a distinct difference in pressing quality as this one is fairly quiet, even in the dead spots. Even a clean US pressing is noisy to the point of distraction.
Biggest flaw here is that the inner groove distortion on each side. No sibilance or anything... just the higher the pitch frequencies start to deteriorate at the end of each final track at the end. Does not impact the rest. It Was A Good Day sounds about as damn smooth as a triple-double.
The US 2016 repress version is a much worse pressing using the original Rainbo plates, which no reasonable person with a soul can enjoy. This 2x LP is a nice sweet spot. Wish these weren't as rare and could justify the price, but at least you should be satisfied with the end product.
... still waiting on a Kevin Gray AAA Pallas VMP pressing to come through, but until then this will hold you down.
