What a rich period this was for progressive pop music, unashamed to be aiming for the charts (though rarely as successfully as the music deserves) but also incredibly clever. Also superb cover

I listened to my UK original pressing just now (a VG+ copy that’s well played - it’s variant 1 by the looks) for the first time in a while and was struck by how good it sounds. I thought it might be a George “Porky” Peckham special but it doesn’t have his marking though the comment is very “him”. Anyone share my view re the quality of the sound?

Edited 3 years agoI discovered a mispress in a copy of the US release of Pure Pop For Now People. The B side of my copy was pressed with the B side from a Sonny James 1978 album This Is Love. You can see a video at the following link documenting the mispress, https://imgur.com/a/YHpNNMV
Has anyone heard of this mispress, can't find any mention or reference to it online or in the version list here. -
My pressing is a US "Pure Pop For..." JC35329 pressing, so presumably original 1978.
However, there are no identifying press plant etchings, just the "AL 35329 1D" and "BL 35329 1A" stamps.
Any one have a clue as to which pressing this is?
