Edited 6 months agoHave a VG- copy of this and it sounds great but not mind blowing as some people have put it. The drums sound very flat, but everything else sounds alive? Peters vocals come straight out of the speakers and the bass is floor shaking. I could do with a better copy at some point, as this one has been treasured and well loved. The AP reissue will probably sound better, but if you can find a great copy of this 1st Press for cheap, then pick it up, you won’t be disappointed.

All who love Genesis know that their best work - Foxtrot always sounded problematic, the first English edition of Charista - B&C records. PEKO-PORKI A-1U, B-1U - this is the only thing that sounded as it was intended by those who mixed the record, but subsequent reissues on PHONOGRAM were simply terrifying, and the German first press there is generally only midrange - a terrible sound, and only in the USA - BUDDHA records even reissues sounded good.
But we will talk about the 2008 remix, which is being reissued in 2024 using the new half-speed technology,
It has high frequencies, there are low frequencies, the sound is excellent - but this is not FOXTROT - the magic is gone and We hear an ordinary group of which there are many in Britain - a complete fiasco. -
Edited 4 years agoMy copy of this is exactly the same as this except for a matt sleeve, black spine text and a sleeve printed by Howards (Slough). It also has a small sticker with the band's name (same typeface as the cover itself) on the top-right front cover. I cannot find this combination anywhere in this list - does anyone know what I have?

Foxtrot is probably tied for my favorite prog rock album ever written. Supper's Ready alone boosts this album so much. Can Utility and the Coastliners is probably my go to for introducing people to prog rock.

Got this from my aunt when I took in her old Genesis cassette collection and this one is my favorite one of the bunch! Love the art on the cover and get em' out by Friday is such a rad song.

I have an original release with the matrix numbers stating : (A2-U Porky's Prime Cut & B1-U Pecko)!! Does that mean my B-Side is the original cut but my side 1 a 2nd Cut? Is that unusual?
-
Can someone tell me why does it say (CONTINUED) at the end of the SUPPER'S READY lyrics? Inquiring mind needs to know!

There is a version of this album with the textured sleeve (A-1U Porky & B-1U Pecko matrices) but no red text on the spine. The cover picture continues across the spine (as per the red text version) effectively forming a complete picture when opened out. This version appears to be rarer than that with the text on the spine and I am not sure whether this version is the true first press. B & C have confirmed that the first release did not include the red inner, perhaps it did not include the red text ?
