Completely acceptable repress. I'm playing it on a 70s system and it sounds like I as a youth. I chase that sound...and the sonics are clean and warm <ortofon blue cartridge> . Unless you can score a OG mint and afford it...welcome to the world of The Smiths starts here.

Scored this today finally. Collection is complete.
Pressing is incredible, like the rest of the reissues. -
Quiet, flat, and well mastered to vinyl. Excellent price point right now, very pleased with this RE.

The original recordings are not, even by a long shot, of "audiophile quality". So unless the CD or LP sounds really bad - and they'd have to make an effort of it, this version should do quite nicely.

Edited 3 years agoBought new, flat vinyl with zero surface noise, sounds pretty good to me, maybe a bit less dynamic than the UK and US 1st pressings but definitely worth it and considering how prices on vinyl go sky high very fast if I was you I will buy this now before you'll end up spending three times what's worth today....

Sounds “ok.” Not bad (quiet background, no surface noise, no sibilance) but not great either (somewhat lacking low end, somewhat mushy and compressed as others have stated.) Is it bad for a reissue? No, but it leaves me wanting to hear an original pressing from 1984.
