Excellent pressing - the best I've heard and worth getting if you're hooked on the black magic in these grooves. I've owned two different original Combat pressings, and both sound thick and vibey, but this pressing just stomps -- it's got all the thickness and atmosphere but more clarity, punch, and depth. Sure, it's not an audiophile recording by any stretch, but still you can hear the difference in fidelity and vibe fresh off the tapes from back in the day.

Edited 3 years agoBy a VERY large margin, this is the absolute best and heaviest Celtic Frost album of them all. Further, this is easily one of the very best Metal releases, regardless of sub-genre tags, of all time. A timeless and mandatory listen. And look at that cover! Says it all right there. Legend

I see there is version listed as on the Combat Noise label, but only as a cassette? Mine is a black vinyl LP, gatefold, green label with black lettering, Combat Noise MX 8091 Stereo. Bottom says "Important Records" and "Jamaica, NY 11430." Should this version be added to the list?

Edited 5 years agoIs there a story behind Dawn of Megiddo being consistently misspelled as "Meggido" on reissues and the original LP liner notes? I know some bands like The Smashing Pumpkins misspell song titles on purpose, so I am just wondering if this is the case for this album. I mean, I have even seen one of their setlists and it is spelled "Meggido" there as well. Just wondering.

Timeless classic and an excellent pressing. Gnawing midrangey guitar tone, clear and raw pure sound. Remaster is very polished sounding and has all the midrange sucked out of it, very scooped in comparison to the original, loses that old school vibe.
