Man that is some TERRIBLE looking album art. Looks like a bootleg bought in a back alley or something. That's the best they could do quality wise?
-
-
At the price they asked for this initially the execution is a joke. Cheap basic white sleeves. Not even printed inner sleeves or poly lined. No booklet. The defective disc debacle. The unnumbered pictures. I wish there would’ve been more care - a booklet would’ve been nice but I guess there aren’t that many pictures from that era ?
-
Edited one year agoSome of the initial marketing language on the artist's website www.cher.store and WB's social media incorrectly stated there was "previously unreleased" material on this new edition, which is not true. In fact, every single track has actually been released already, on CD or vinyl.
-
So to summarise:
It's the European yellow vinyl that has the errors - the European edition has numbered lithos and a Red Hype sticker
The US edition yellow vinyl plays fine but some lithos are not numbered plus it has a Black Hype sticker
I've reached out to Warners UK etc on Social Media and email and they are aren't replying or acknowledging the pressing error - not sure what else to do? Anyone else reached out to them?
The original CD sleeve has fuzzy images, both European and US editions - I think that is the treatment they went with back in the day and it's replicated on the re-issue CD and Vinyl Boxset.
I'm tempted to buy a copy of the US Vinyl boxset but the cost to right a couple of errors seems extreme -

The box is superfluous, except for extra protection for shipping which is a thing with Warner so I guess, good? My litho is numbered (big wow). I love the colors of the vinyl. Sides are so short, is this a 45? Disappointing there is not booklet, liner notes, anything. Nothing can beat Pigpen's version of It's a Man's World. Where is that box set?
-
My copy have the same issues on all three songs on LP2-Side 2. On "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" it speeds up and down, like others descibled, but also on "Shape Of Things To Come" at the very end of the song, when it's fading out. On "It's A Man's Man's Man's World" it speeds up and down two times in the middle of the song, but very short, not that strong as in "The Sun...". Someone else have the errors on the two other songs?
-
Maybe I got lucky, but my version doesn't have the defect on The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore. Bought it on Amazon Canada. Overall a good pressing, no surface noise at all and pretty good dynamic sound! But yes, the box and feels cheap otherwise.
-
Right so… let’s sum this up: my lithograph isn’t numbered, the images are blurry as hell, especially the main cover. €150 and the inner sleeves are basic white paper? Not printed? Not even poly lined? For a hundred and fifty bucks? Plus the issues with quality control on certain tracks mentioned by others before. Excuse me what did I pay 150 for? Also the colors of the box look kinda cheap, it looked better in the mockups tbh (the bright red against the turquoise snake print with that weird white shadow effect - it looks very homemade)
Not happy the whole thing looks like a bootleg if I’m brutally honest
