Kylie* – Extension (The Extended Mixes)

The best way to listen to this phenomenal album. I was hoping the sound quality would be incredible, but it's merely very good. If you have any appreciation of song-based dance music this is a no-brainer - snag it!

Reviewing every record in my collection:

A great, Great record. Since the Disco era I've decided to wait for definitive version of the album's to come out, and as I did with Disco; I chose the Extended Mixes to own. I don't really like the Cover, the colors look hideous, so does the inside, BUT! The vinyls are truly gorgeous, can't deny that.

The sound quality is superb, the songs shine through at 45RPM and the longer play time really works in favor of the songs, I hope they do the same with Tension II

I like to eat shrooms and listen to this at 33rpm. The world just melts away…

Mine's a bit noisy between tracks post-clean. Great album and lovely packaging though: I loved her Disco extended mix album and this one's a beaut too.

A better version of the album overall, longer edits work better here for an album. However a 45rpm should really be cut like a 12" single, hot, in your face, banging. This one merely limps onto the speakers - they'd have been no difference if it were 33rpm.

The art of vinyl cutting is dying

I went through 3 copies of this 2xLP before I could find pressings that weren’t warped. The warps were bad enough that disc 1 was dished. Then when I finally managed to mix and match 2 copies to make a set that was reasonably flat there were lots of stray plastic strings hanging off the edges which needed to be removed from the edge of the disc.

In all of the 3 copies I’ve had disc 1 has always been the most warped and also the one with the plastic strings hanging off the edge.

Apart from that this is a beautiful record. The clear vinyl with colour splatter looks great and the double gatefold is also nice quality, very vibrant and glossy.

The extended mixes are not overdone and IMO bring the album to where it should be in length. The tracks work better being slightly longer. If I want to listen to this album in full I always choose Extention over Tension. The production of the album is very processed, it is an electronic album so not really surprising. The sound quality of the album is good and apart from a very small amount of vinyl roar on disc 1 between tracks. The music is very clear, rich and deep sounding. Disc 2 sounds marginally better to me with almost no background noise at all and this has been consistent across all 3 copies I’ve played.

Just a shame this is a vinyl only physical release. I wouldn’t have went through 3 CDs to get a good copy if it were on CD, unlike the very hit and miss quality of vinyl.

Overall a pretty and nicely presented package with good sound. A decent electronic disco/dance album with only the variable vinyl QC to knock my rating down to average. It really shouldn’t take 3 attempts to get my hands on a flat pressing over a period of months.

This sounds more balanced to me - the bass not as "boomy" as on the original LP and more details in the music with the extended versions - the whole album just feels more rounded out now. Visually beautiful too.

LP 1 had extra plastic strings on the very outer edge. I had to pull them off. Otherwise great albums, they sound good. In my eye the holiest of Kylie Grails #2 in my vinyls collection.

This might be the best way to listen to "Tension" all things considered. The extra time allows the songs to breathe more and at 45 rpm it sounds, to my ears, better than the coke bottle clear -- which is nice but songs these days are made intentionally short to fit into TikToks and I prefer longer compositions.
