My copy is a little noisy, like a small popcorn factory, but it's very silent for the most part and gives the soundtrack an additional atmosphere. I will try cleaning it though, but it's still a good pressing!
-
Edited one year agoExcellent pressing, very little noise after a thorough clean.
A tip though for all “At The Movies” PVC Sleeves these come in, if you care about your records, toss these out ASAP. I keep the hype sticker and toss out the outer sleeve as soon as receiving them.
These PVC sleeves will off gas eventually and start to ruin anything that comes in with them ☮️ -
First album badly pressed: high noisefloor lots and lots of crackles. Second album is ok. Sound is good but nothing spectacular. It seems a lot of great soundtracks are represented this way on vinyl nowadays. IMO most of them sound more spectacular on digital format.

Love the soundtrack but my copy is very noisy, some of the louder parts suffer from terrible distortion. I have this on no other vinyl that I play (ittedly I am new to vinyl so only have 5 so far)
-
Going by the comments on here I feel very luck to say absolutely no surface noise on my new copy. Completely silent in the quiet ages straight out of the sleeve.. Copy #04560/15000 It seems to be a pot luck sort of thing but good clean copies do exist!

Edited 2 years agoListening for the first time now… there is really quite some surface noise… hope that gets better after 1-2 runs. Otherwise pretty anoying as it goes through all quiet parts. Did not give it a good wash before.
What is really disappointing: This is NOT audiophile to me at all.
Separation, clarity & freshness is not there. Sound stage very centric … strange for the kind of immersivenss that you would expect from such music. Nearly a little mushy to be honest…
It ist a good release, but I expected and hoped for more, following the ment. -
Well, I finally have my copy! It's #01516 and I'm absolutely thrilled about it! this copy sounds amazing!. I'm not gonna lie, I have read several reviews and took extra minutes to make a deep cleaning. I have to recognize, they had some dust over it.
- "Music On Vinyl" Audiophile vinyl quality and that's it!
- Mixing and volume is perfect
- No surface noise (after cleaning); I have found a couple of pops on Side A, so took an extra couple of minutes to clean it and that was it!.
- Artwork is magneficent! The texture, OMG!!!
- The thick plastic sleeve with the logo "At the Movies" and the sealing sticker
- Inner sleeves just like all MOV products, fantastic!.
This is a must-have OST in your collection. -
I had a significant amount of surface noise on my copy on the first play through, like others (even after running it through the spin clean beforehand). On the second play through surface noise was significantly reduced, but still mild-moderate and it was peculiarly worse in louder ages. My theory is that the material they use for this crystal clear vinyl likes to hold onto static much more strongly than standard black vinyl. Hence why noise was reduced on a second play.

Gotta say there is a lot of surface noise on my copy. Sounds like this pressing is hit or miss, glad some have quiet LPs. Still very enjoyable to me though. Everything can't be perfect.
