At the time of its release, 'Slow' was, by far, Kylie attempting to sound as unKylie as she could. Well, it's not that surprising, really. The Princess of Pop has undergone many forms of surgery (both aurally and physically) to get where she is today. It's only recently that she's really tried to get as eclectic as the reigning Queen, Madonna, and I suppose the Electro-iness of 'Slow' is an important milestone in her career thus far.

I've always had a soft spot for Kylie, but this time I feel she's wandered too far away from her Dance/Pop backyard. With 'Slow', she's tresing on foriegn territory, thus she makes an anxious, almost desperate, attempt to sound cool. Looking back on beauties like 'Love At First Sight' and 'Spinning Around', it's plain to see why she put bums in seats because we knew Kylie was doing what she did best - being Kylie.

'Slow' is a daring attempt to diversify her audience so I give her full credit for summoning the courage to do something radical. Still, I hope she minimises her eclectic tendencies in the future.
