Edited 4 months agoAnd now, apparently, 585 people have a copy of this 200 pressing record!
It's still a killer... even if you paid over the odds for a bootleg. -

it's a great pop track
this fascination for the acapella
i'm sure it's fun -
You might want to check the matrix if you own this record - there were only 200 pressed and apparently 385 have it.
There is a bootleg pressed in the same colour with similar runout. -

Over the past 14 years (my God, has it really been THAT long!?!?!?) I've scored several copies of the Aussie CD 1 (both new and second-hand) and they all seem to have an audio glitch within the first 1 or 2 seconds of track 1. -

Very nice picture with Kylie Minogue lookalike Brigitte Bardot in the 60's
The song is almost sensual but that's it... -
Edited 19 years agoAt the time of its release, 'Slow' was, by far, Kylie attempting to sound as unKylie as she could. Well, it's not that surprising, really. The Princess of Pop has undergone many forms of surgery (both aurally and physically) to get where she is today. It's only recently that she's really tried to get as eclectic as the reigning Queen, Madonna, and I suppose the Electro-iness of 'Slow' is an important milestone in her career thus far.
I've always had a soft spot for Kylie, but this time I feel she's wandered too far away from her Dance/Pop backyard. With 'Slow', she's tresing on foriegn territory, thus she makes an anxious, almost desperate, attempt to sound cool. Looking back on beauties like 'Love At First Sight' and 'Spinning Around', it's plain to see why she put bums in seats because we knew Kylie was doing what she did best - being Kylie.
'Slow' is a daring attempt to diversify her audience so I give her full credit for summoning the courage to do something radical. Still, I hope she minimises her eclectic tendencies in the future.

Edited 2 years agoFirst of all , it's an extremely beautiful pic-disc, AND you get a good (extended?) original (gorgeous-Kylie-side) AND a REALLY thrusting dark dance version-underground-vibe AND a "funny"/ perky electro version to finish of this excellent 3 course meal. Dinner is served!!

That's really not Kylie's best release. The music behind her voice is too easy, and sounds too much like a gameboy. This kind of sound can be good if it's well used (V.L.A.D. - Calculette), but here it doesn't fit the melody or song.
The only good thing about this record is the acapella, handy to remix that song!

I'm sorry for being such a pop whore, but this is actually a damn good pop record. Lots of swirling electronica by Mr Dan (of Danmass) and Kylie doing her best impression of a sex line call girl on the vocals. I don't think much of the remixes by Radio Slave and Medicine 8 but the Chemical Brothers mix on one of the promos is also very good.
As for the picture disc itself, its quite disconcerting watching Kylie spin round on your turntable, although I'm not complaining - its better than a Paul Oakenfold picture disc!
