This is an excellent EU pressing and if you haven't heard the AP75 45rpm you'd be happy with this. However, the AP75 is more focused, defined and balanced. The lows are tight. The highs are crisp but not overpowering. There is more depth and punch. This EU copy needs to be cranked just to volume match the AP75 but still lacks in the SQ, but not by much. You'd have to really A'B them to tell the differences but they're there. That being said, if you aren't interested in dishing out the money for that copy, this is a solid listen and satisfies the itch if you crave a vinyl copy. I would rate 4.5 stars if that was an option.

Sure all the 2lp versions are gonna sound better but all you gotta do is just turn it up and it comes alive. If you've never listened to a 2lp version you would think this is very acceptable. I have almost all of the vinyl versions out there except for the original and I enjoy comparing as I don't tire of listening to this great all time grunge classic.

Goes to show that CB doing this, and pressed at a good plant means nothing when you cram a long album on one LP.
This sounds so thin and lifeless, with no bite, punch, and drive at all.
If Dead & Bloated doesn't just smashes right in your face, you're listening to the wrong pressing.

Go get the Analogue Productions, Music on Vinyl, or Run Out Groove

Analogue Productions is releasing this (hopefully in 2024) in a Staughton gatefold, cut to 45rpm from the tapes, first 500 numbered.

Have to say, fantastic sound. Yes, as others have noted, lower volume than others but crank it up and it’s superb! Very keen to hear the pending Analogue Productions pressing if their other titles are anything to go by. Favourite STP album!

In my opinion this is a great sounding pressing ESPECIALLY for the price.

Minimal surface noise (there is some) flat.

The sound is exactly what I’d want out of an STP record…… BIG. It’s not the most dynamic record but it is what I personally would want to hear. it is DEFINITELY mixed on the quiet side though.

Analogue Productions is releasing this and PURPLE at 45rpm, cut from the tapes (TBA).

Good but not great pressing. Got this German pressing version from Turntable Lab after returning the very poor Made in Italy Walmart red splatter pressing. Vinyl is generally quiet (much quieter than the Italy pressing), but still has some of the surface noise issues between tracks that the Italy version has, but they aren't as prevalent on the German pressing. Definitely cut on the quiet side, and doesn't jump out of the speakers like you'd want it to, but still a fun, clear, dynamic listen. Can't complain too much for $20, although isn't as huge sounding as my Italy/Walmart splatter pressing of Purple, which, although it has a high noise floor, is super and punchy and dynamic when turned up.

Sounds better than the red splatter one but stick with the CD much louder haven't heard from STP on vinyl that sounds great
