A great party record with a few quiet storm jams. Around this era, there were a lot of bands mixing hard funk, disco and New Wave to come up with something totally new: electro-funk. Instant Funk was among that crew, which also included Lakeside, One Way, Gap Band, Dazz Band, Imagination, Zapp & Roger, Cameo, Rick James and tons more. The big horns are still in play, but there's electronic elements too, especially on 'Dark Vader". Good times.

Edited 7 years agoThis amazme again. 23 people gave a 3 (stand 09/2017), even a 2 or a 1 to this GREAT Soul album, maybe one of the greatest of the entire Salsoul Label (along with some of The Salsoul Orchestra & Double Exposure), and made in the great, great year 1979??? What?? I don´t go also to the Metal, Rock or anyhow other styles releases to vote those ones, as I don´t hear these days much of them and this music style regularly. Again, IF YOU DON´T LIKE Disco or this music here, DON´T RATE IT, please!!! This reacord here deserve at least a 4,5 points rank, IMO...
PD: Second time this week, that I see a good album voted by unconscious people don´t have any clue of it, consideration, or know the whole cultural & historical background in which a special one music record was created. And by the way, as a matter of principle, RESPECT to musicianship & history, and love to Music I will NEVER give a(n) (old) record a note 1 or 2. I prefer then not to vote it, and move on, simple as that! Thanks!
