Alice In Chains – Sap

My copy came sealed and upon opening this to give it a listen, I noticed a very prominent warp in the vinyl which was making my needle jump slightly and there were hairline scratches that were present. Although these defects were present, it wasn't anything I couldn't fix with my vinyl flattener and a couple rounds of cleaning. It sounds good but nothing insane. I'm just glad mine is listenable and the defects were fixable.

I recently acquired this edition, it sounds impeccable, defined, powerful and dynamic from start to finish (it doesn't suffer from igd, in fact Love Song sounds beautiful), the remaster and the cut are magnificent, and happily my copy has no distortion or background noise as described in other comments. The packaging, the printing and quality of the inner sleve are excelent, suring the Jar of Flies reissue in everything. Chris Bellman is A+

Found at a local record shop, absolutely none of the issues described in other comments here are contained on my pressing. Excellent sound, no pops, very clean.

Can anyone confirm whether Brother and Am I Inside feature Ann Wilson?

I ask because the 2024 reissue of Alice In Chains - Music Bank rather than the original mix.

A comment on the sub for the new JoF vinyl states that: "At around the 2 minute mark, there's an extra violin flourish before the lyrics come in" and "It appears the band used the same version of I Stay Away for this pressing as they did for Music Bank"

THE absolute worst sounding/quality record i own. cleaned and brushed 4 times and still pops and almost scratchy sounds out the ass! not sure how it’s even possible. the music sounds pretty good but the vinyl is abysmal. it’s not even worth the wax it’s printed on. i pray to god the inevitable jar of flies reissue isn’t this bad

at $15 retail i may be able to forgive it. but how a record like this brings in $50+ consistently astounds me.

My copy sounds fantastic. No static, no drag. The only issue is it’s maybe a little bit quiet, but I turned it up to -42 dB and it sounds fantastic.

Maybe just my copy but four trips through the ultrasonic and it still has heavy static at the last two tracks. Have played it on three different tables and same result.

I own this U.S. pressing. Bought my copy on RSD. Vinyl doesn't have so much as a faint hairline scratch, an issue mentioned in other reviews. Also, I've been collecting vinyl for 50 years and have been around other collectors for that long and have never heard the term "groove drag" as has been mentioned below on three ocassions. What's a "groove drag." A new way of saying it "skips"? Perhaps your tonearm/cartridge/vertical tracking/balance is off, because I didn't have any problems on either my classic Dual or my heavily modded/upgraded Rega. No surface noise whatsoever, and no "groove drags." Whatever those are. Of course I did a professional cleaning and double rinse with distilled water before playing it, so if you're experiencing surface noise with new records but not cleaning them first then you really shouldn't be complaining about surface noise. My copy did arrive warped, as many have rightly complained, but my ORB Disc Flattener fixed that problem in four hours. I'd recommend this pressing, especially over the MOV pressing.
