I bought the Akarma reissue new and shrink wrapped on yellow vinyl and was initially disappointed that the record would stick on side 2 even with my cleaning. So I sent it off for wet enzyme and ultrasonic cleaning. When it came back it didn't stick anymore and any crackles had gone. The best song is definitely the bonus B6 track Hipshaker - what a brilliant and catchy rocker with a great solo! Where did that song come from??? I've needle dropped the album and play it in my car and actually prefer it now to my Led Zep albums. As an album listening experience, all the songs are spot on apart from the weaker title track, but I can't help replaying Hipshaker 2 or 3 times when I'm in the fast lane!

I've never understood what all the fuss is about this album (apart from its rarity) its pretty pedestrian heavy rock not a patch on say, stray and once again (as he did with atomic rooster and cactus) Pete French's vocals are awful. This really is heavy rock by numbers and hardly worthy of the price tag. i would put it up there with Elias hulk and little free rock as albums that have built up a reputation not based on musical brilliance but the fact that they sold zilch when first released, don't be fooled by the hype they have aquired..

The See For Miles CD issue from 1994 was the first I head of this album, and I really liked it, but this pressing blows that CD out of the water. The depth and presence of this record is really amazing.. play it loud mother@#$%^s!
