Edited one month agoVinyl sounds outstanding, just need to crank your system a little bit to get it to realllllyyyy shine. And very nice to get the MTV Unplugged show on CD, too.

Sounds incredible, it’s quiet because it’s vinyl! Dynamics are awesome! This is what makes vinyl great!
-
Pressing is clean and like other reviews the volume is low but it doesn’t take away from the quality of the pressing and the packaging (CD, DVD, booklet) very well done!
My copy had a “made in Mexico” on the lower back cover sleeve.

Edited 3 years agoI bought this version because it has the vinyl album. All other versions are way overpriced!! Anyhow, Some are complaining about the volume being low. So what!! When you own a good stereo set with more than enough power to drive decent speakers you will not have any problems and it won't sound ear piercing or anything. But on a 20 watt Walmart stereo with inferior speakers nothing really won't sounds good when you crank it up. Anyway, this vinyl version sounds really great because it has low volume. Crank it up and you will hear greater details and better (controlled) punchy bass. In general most of the MOV releases sound great in the beginning because of the high volume. But mostly lacking details, often bright sounding on higher volume and have unnatural sounding pumping bass. So I'm one happy trooper with this release.

Volume is really low. I'd expect better quality at this price point. Doesn't sound bad until you crank it, then the highs become ear piercing.

Love the vinyl, nothing wrong with that. Only a bit low on the volume as stated previously. Packaging and booklet is great as well.
They include some interesting extra's, but it's a bummer they chose to include two incomplete concerts. The July second one misses just two songs, (Creep and Dead & Bloated) and instead of those two we get 5 songs we just heard but then from the Reading Festival. I mean come on, pick out the extra's but don't spoil a good show. I rather have one complete concert, it captures the whole feeling way better than two halves. They did that much better with the Purple Deluxe version.
It's nice they included the unplugged session on a separate disc though. But it would be even nicer if it was added as separate vinyl. it's a deluxe after all, don't save it for the next anniversary please.

I was hesitant to get this box since I don't need any of these CDs and DVD. but that highly praised MOV release became too expensive. I didn't have much choice. So I bite the bullet.
first impressions, very nice package 😁 the cover image really shines with the foil print.
what about the SQ? as many pointed out already, it should be played loud. It being pressed almost 54 minutes to 2 sides of single LP resultung a narrow groove. but when you crank up the volume it gives the right punchy.
But compared to Plush 12"EP, it's not quite the same level of punch I want to have. In the end, I got that MOV release.
At the first listen, MOV seems to be a great sounding record. but after several A-B with Plush EP and this box, I concluded that this version is superior to MOV.
MOV may sound great but it lacks the details and EQed for HF. Compared to this and EP, MOV doesn't have the same fatty drum sounds. For this reason It sounds really open and clear but the drum sounds and some of Scott's vocal lost some spells. MOV version is overly bright that's not what STP should sound like.
if you have the both, you've already noticed that this version has more details that you did not notice before. I assume this version could be the one STP intended. MOV version is somewhat different from EP sounds but this box has the similar tone and feel.
so if you are the great fan, the best is getting 3 of their early EPs.
