I just received my long awaited replacement for my trashed and ruined original from 1970
the memories came flooding back as to how poor and shabby the box set is material, and finish wise
really was a cheapo job god knows who signed it off at Apple just to get some more coffers in the bank
whilst the slip case is laminated and printed on grey thin card this could have had a propper stiff reinforced cardboard box as per the hundreds and hundreds of classical album sets that EMI had done for HMV Recording Angel and Columbia UK that were done and can be readily found in any charity shop! Or indeed as to how George had All Things Must packaged....and those had Orange Apples???
The album sleeve is also printed on thin card buff finish however it is NOT laminated thus saving Apple 1d or 2d per sleeve EMI would be ing all pressimg cots on this means the sleeve will scuff and wear easily . The flip back sleeve looks cheap compared to Abbey Road again a cheaper printing folding run. The red apple you can draw your own conclusions as to why only Mr Klein knows! The USA pressing went one stage further with this colour change as the labels had a red apple full and sliced. Although not laminated the usa gatefold sleeve was printed on thicker card and the finish is better
In summing up this package it was hastily put together for the fans (I still am) it came in nothing to protect any longivity
The Book is laminated but the glue as we know is poor and pages will come free if the spine is bent back
The tray is again thin card but white backed the perferations for the machine fold show with all the white edges showing.
maybe it was seen through rose tinted glasses when I was teen but looking at it now it really is shameful pap....but a loveable pap all for 39/-
Lets see what and IF the 51st anniversary release will be like it deffo wont be 39/- lol

Having a bit of trouble locating my pressing. I believe it is a legit pressing as everything I have found online to identify true pressings notes it as such, BUT it is missing the "Phil + Ronnie" etching. This is a 1970's Jacksonville US pressing with JS-17,500-30 in the A-side runout. I do not see this identifier on any of the US listings. Any idea what pressing this could be, or whether it should be added? I should also add that 'Maggie Mae' is credited to "P.D" without the "Lennon/McCartney" arrangement credit.

Hi The Beatles - Let It Be. There might be a few more. Just go to master release of this record and sort by country (inverse) and check the 30 to 40 entries for UK releases :-)
