Elliott Smith – Either / Or

I just bought the 2012 pressing because I noticed it’s the same metal work as the original and I wanted to know if it would be better than this 2017 remaster and later copies. Turns out there’s more grooves and way less dead wax on the older pressings. This one here has so much dead space I thought it was kinda strange and the bass is pretty tame once you compare to the older 2012. Just thought I’d point that out. This has like a whole inch more dead wax which is disappointing.
Yeah bass ain’t everything but lll take more information in the grooves any day on the 2012 or older pressing.

So I just bought this pressing but mine ain’t 180g so I think the seller messed that up but I got the same metal work here and it looks to be like the same master as the original too.
Anyway I wanted to really share these earlier ones has more grooves and less dead wax than 2017 and newer! There’s a difference of like an inch of dead wax.
The bass on these is far greater so yeah I’ll take an older copy all day. The later pressings disc almost looks like an ep in comparison because of the amount of deadwax.

Wonderful pressing, difficult not to get moved by the presentation of the voice. On of the most perfect album start to finish, with maybe Tapestry.

Bought new. After a light cleaning, it sounded excellent. This album is a must-have

Sounds great but the quality control on mine is awful. It has a horrible bump on the lead in groove and terrible warping.

mine plays completely fine front to back no pops maybe a few crackles im not sure but nothing to ruin the listening experience

Sounds so lovely! Such a quiet pressing with little to no noise. I recommend! For the price and the quality you just can’t beat it! :)

pretty crazy that the sales show people are buying this sealed for $200 when it's not possible to a 1st pressing by jacket alone.

One of the best sounding records in my collection. Warm, rich and full sound, haven't heard any other pressings but can't imagine it getting any better.

The mastering sounds great to me, but unfortunately my copy has an annoying scratching/hissing sound on the first seconds of "Speed Trials" and various ticks and pops on side B. Cleaning didn't help at all. Will have to return it and wait for a replacement copy, which probably won't be the same mastering/pressing as there are so many currently on retail.

UPDATE: Got the replacement and it's the same pressing, with the same strange sounds in the beginning of "Speed Trials"--definitely not the background sound that's already in the song originally. There are less ticks and pops, but still enough to be distracting. Will be returning this one too, gave up on this pressing.
