My copy is centered, flat, & super quiet for its age. Very lively presentation - clean separation of instrumentation & vocals, standout midrange. The soundstage is large filling the room (wide stereo image) and the mix dodges any real mud or sibilance in either direction. Tons of slam, and nice balance of compression / detail ...this pressing simply rocks.

Found this exact pressing at a Barnes and Noble last week. Echo everything said before me…this pressing sounds amazing. Kevin grey in the dead wax.
As soon as I saw the black outline on the sticker..I knew. Not sure why it says “mastered at capital”

Craft sucks. My hype sticker said it was the KPG cut but my box included the old cut. I emailed Craft customer service 3-4 times over a few months and never received a single reply. That was my last Craft purchase.

This album reminds me of being 17yo on a post high school shindig. It's a 10/10 flawless album. They nailed it beyond words. This edition sounds sensational. Flat, quiet and dynamic.

I’ve never had answer by mail from Craft… but after 3 months, I received my KPG copy…
It’s wonderful. This is a super cut, nothing compares to the original LP in the box.
                This is audiophile !

Can anyone comment on the various pressings? Why is this one so expensive for a 2015 reissue? I am looking to get this lp but have no idea which.

An album that has always demanded attention—raw, unfiltered, and unapologetically alive. With Kevin Gray, the energy explodes in a way that’s both exhilarating and controlled.

From the first needle drop, the sound is loud—bold even—but never chaotic. Gray’s mastering style feels like turning the saturation dial all the way up without losing definition. If Kevin Gray were a photographer, every color would pop, every shadow would deepen, and you’d swear you could step into the scene. And with this remaster, he’s gone all in, transforming an already visceral record into something absolutely electric.

The drums are in your lap—no, really. They don’t just sit in the mix; they command attention, pulling you into the intimate, garage-like feel of the recording. Tracks like Kiss Off feel alive and dangerously close, as if Gordon Gano himself is sneering right in your face.

It’s important to note the inherent noise in this recording—a characteristic often mistaken as a flaw. But here, it works, amplifying the gritty, garage-band essence that makes this album so iconic. Instead of being distracting, it adds texture and authenticity to the experience.

For someone like me, whose only prior frame of reference was a Walkman with cheap headphones, this remaster feels revelatory. It’s as if a once-muted, blurry snapshot has transformed into a high-definition, living portrait. Good gracious, this record doesn’t just play—it breathes, leaps, and grabs hold of you.

If you’re on the fence about picking up this Kevin Gray cut, let me make it simple: do it. It’s the Violent Femmes like you’ve never heard them before—alive, raw, and in your lap.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CRAFT RELEASE!! WAS JUST REFUSED REPLACEMENT DISC DESPITE THE HYPE STICKER SAYING IT'S KPG CUT; IT WAS NOT!!

BUYER BEWARE WHEN BUYING FROM CRAFT!

Have been watching this since the beginning waiting on the reviews before buying and put it off for awhile due to the incorrect pressing of the self titled album being included. I figured I would give Craft time to fix the issue since they were sending out replacement discs and the reviews of those discs were amazing. A buddy and me ordered 2 boxes from Craft a few weeks ago and was excited when they arrived. Opened the boxes and both still had the non KPG cut of the self titled album. Oh well, send an email to Craft explaining the issue and requesting the replacement discs. After several emails and escalating through various means we were finally able to get a response. We have not received the replacements yet but were told they were on the way after much complaining. The messed up part is they informed us that our boxes were not intended to contain the KPG cut. When Craft discovered the issue instead of fixing it and replacing the discs in the boxes or simply shipping them with the proper disc in addition they changed all the wording on their website and changed the hype sticker on the boxes. We found this out because we were asked to provide a copy of the hype stickers and sure enough all mention of KPG and AAA from the master tapes had been removed. While Craft claims the KPG discs are on the way I think this is a very poor business decision and has definitely skewed my opinion of Craft. Honestly will try to avoid buying from them in the future because of this.
