Edited 16 days agoI've had this for a while and I've just been getting into some vintage city pop albums, and holy crap the difference in quality is stunning. My copy of this is noisy, clicky, poppy - which was made more annoying with my updated setup (vs the the beginner turntable I originally listened on.) Used albums 40 years older sound better. Bummer, because it's an outstanding presentation.
-
Perhaps the best soundtrack for me. The movie is amazing and that's exactly what the music sounds like. On vinyl in this version a pleasure. No crackling, no hissing, just pure musical enjoyment. The basses are thumping in some ages.
-
I've got 3, maybe 4 different versions of this soundtrack. This is definitely the worst sounding. The gatefold is and slipcover are great to look at tho.

The track "The Son Of Flynn" seems to be inspired by the Italo classic Decadance (2) - On And On (Fears Keep On) -
On my copy Side C has persistant factory marks and the last few moment of Finale has massive surface noise. All faces have factory scuffing sadly which only impacts the visual but the audio is fine. This was brand new sealed.
-
My copy has the bad surface noise including clicks. It sounds a bit like a picture disc. I will try cleaning it at some point and come back with an update if there is any improvement. I usually do a three stage clean: GrooveWasher spray and cleaning pad, ultrasonic with GrooveWasher G.Sonic, and then the SPINCARE record cleaning machine. If that doesn’t help, nothing will.
I’m trying to determine if I’m also hearing distortion due to blown levels. I’d need to cross-check with the digital release to be sure. Such a shame because the discs look beautiful.
I’m not hugely impressed with the cover. It feels like it’s missing a protective lacquer layer and will therefore fade faster. The white back actually seems faded already. Is it supposed to look like that? The track listing looks like some of the ink has rubbed off or degraded. -
Amazing Soundtrack. Sounds great and looks even better with the blue and orange coloring. Wonder what the sequel will sound like

As someone who has always been fascinated by the seamless blend of music and storytelling, Daft Punk's "TRON: Legacy" album was nothing short of an auditory journey. From the moment I hit play, I was transported into the digital frontier, a realm where orchestral grandeur meets electronic precision.
One of the standout features of this album is its ability to create an immersive atmosphere. The opening track, "Overture," is a brief piece but establishes the epic tone that permeates the entire soundtrack. It feels like stepping into an alternate universe where anything is possible.
"Recognizer" is where the electronic elements start to kick in. The pulsating beats and futuristic sounds feel like a nod to Daft Punk's roots while staying true to the cinematic scope of the project. It's a track that captures the essence of the TRON universe—high-tech and full of intrigue.
Tracks like "The Son Of Flynn" and "End Of Line" are quintessential Daft Punk. They embody the duo's knack for crafting catchy, yet complex, electronic music.
However, the true gem of this album, in my opinion, is "Adagio For TRON." This piece exemplifies the perfect marriage between electronic and orchestral elements. The haunting melody and the gradual build-up of tension create an emotional depth that’s both unexpected and incredibly moving. It's a track that lingers in your mind long after it has ended.
The entire album flows seamlessly from one track to the next, creating a cohesive listening experience. It’s not just a collection of songs, but a narrative that unfolds with each ing minute. The closing track, "Finale," brings everything full circle, leaving the listener with a sense of completion and, dare I say, yearning for more. -
Edited 5 months agoDaft Punk's soundtrack for "TRON: Legacy" is a remarkable fusion of electronic music and orchestral elements, embodying the futuristic aesthetic of the film while standing as a significant work in the duo's discography. This album sees Daft Punk stepping into new territory, crafting a cinematic score that complements the visual spectacle of the TRON universe. The opening track, "Overture," immediately sets the stage with its grandiose strings and foreboding tones, signaling the listeners that they are about to embark on an epic journey through the digital frontier.
Tracks like "The Grid" and "Recognizer" introduce a blend of electronic beats and orchestral arrangements that define the album's unique sound. "The Grid" features a narration by Jeff Bridges, which adds a layer of depth and context to the listening experience, while "Recognizer" combines pulsating rhythms with dark, atmospheric synths to create an aura of tension and anticipation. These tracks exemplify Daft Punk's ability to merge traditional film scoring techniques with their iconic electronic style, resulting in a soundscape that is both innovative and immersive.
"Arena" and "Rinzler" ramp up the energy with their driving beats and intense melodies. "Arena" feels like a high-stakes confrontation, with its rapid tempo and dynamic composition capturing the excitement of the film's action sequences. "Rinzler," on the other hand, is a more complex piece, weaving together intricate synth lines and powerful percussion to evoke the presence of one of the film's central antagonists. These tracks showcase Daft Punk's skill in using music to enhance the narrative and emotional impact of the film.
Tracks like "Derezzed" and "End Of Line" stand out as quintessential Daft Punk, delivering the familiar robotic funk and groove that fans have come to love. "Derezzed," with its high-energy beats, is a nod to the digital world of TRON and a highlight of the album. "End Of Line" continues this trend with its catchy, bass-heavy rhythm, offering a danceable yet atmospheric piece that bridges the gap between the film's score and Daft Punk's electronic roots.
The album closes with "Finale," a sweeping orchestral piece that brings the soundtrack to a majestic conclusion. This track encapsulates the journey of the film, blending elements of hope, triumph, and a touch of melancholy.
Score: 8/10
