Suicide – Suicide

I fucking love this goddamn record so much, but I love a lot of records, so I wasn't thrilled with the idea of shelling out $200 plus for an original pressing. Truly, I don't know how much better these songs can sound than they do on this fabulous pressing.

Mine has the G1 and R1 stamps on the opposite sides.

I now have an original 77 USA pressing, a mid-80s UK Demon pressing and the recent ‘Art of the Album’ Mute / BMG 2019 pressing.

It’s a revelation hearing a first 77 USA pressing - the closest to it is the recent ‘Art of the Album’ Mute / BMG 2019 pressing.

The mid-80s UK Demon pressing has far more effects / reverb on it - there’s very definitely a huge difference between the 70s US pressing and the 80s European ones.

It's on red vinyl and it comes with extra junk, what else do you want??? It is an essential record though... somehow sounds completely modern and somehow extremely old... like the drum machine is steam powered... Frankie Teardrop is one of the scariest songs ever recorded...Alan Vega was a true American genius, musically, artistically, and attitudinally... is that a word? well, it is now...Props to Martin Rev too... nobody rocked ski slope sunglasses better than that man...

This cat. no. on Blast First, audio doesn't suffer dynamic compression like other Blast First releases. This is more like the Demon Fiend CD 74 release.

This album is a masterpiece. However, I have to acquire: is George Piros really worth the $200+ difference between this and the OG UK press? I own the OG UK press and have heard this US one tested on a good system many moons ago. Has anyone cross compared both OG presses? Would be curious to see if it's truly worth the price point of investing in a US copy

Fortunately my copy sounds clean with no defects or unwanted noise in between tracks. The vinyl is opaque crimson. Shame about the bad placement of the barcode on the rear of the cover , which detracts from the photo; but i guess the inner booklet and print make up for it. Overall a very nice package , which is worth picking up if you happen to have a worn out original or a bootleg.

They ed the Clash when I saw them in Leicester in ‘78. Came on after The Specials, lasted two numbers before being booed/gobbed off the stage. A couple of years later they were the hippest US band around.

A great reissue of a great album. I listened to this version of the album last night and I got an impression I was hearing Suicide'77 for the first time; it sounded so good, so raw, so harsh.

Someone must date this pressing, please! word word word word
