Is it OK to add durations to a submission from a different media format?
(i.e. vinyl submission using CD duration times)

Here is the entry in question: Don Ameche And s Langford - The Bickersons Fight Back

I know sometimes the duration times can differ between media formats.

For example, Petra (9) - Captured In Time And Space 2xLP was edited for the CD release and the cassette has extra material making it longer in total duration than CD & vinyl.

The CD & cassette versions are not entered here, but you can compare the differences here: http://www.petrafiles.com/petraspective/petra1986capturedintimeandspace.html

12.6.4. If the durations are not listed on the release, they can be found and entered by timing the vinyl / listing the CD times from a CD player or computer etc. Please mention in the submission notes where the durations were derived from. ~ http://discogs.programascracks.com/help/submission-guidelines-release-trk.html#Durations

The Guideline quoted by 2tec applies to taking times from an actual timing of the same media, not from different media sources.

This is absolutely correct. Data from one release cannot be taken to another unless it is factually correct and can be verified. this pertains particularly credits and durations.

Thanks, That is exactly what I was thinking. I'll go back and remove the durations and politely point him to this topic.

The guideline I quoted, 12.6.4, appears to me to cover any and all cases where durations are not listed on the release itself, such as in this case and clearly lists what can be done in such cases. I take this to mean that using durations from other releases is, of course, against the guidelines, and for obviously good reason.

Pardon me for say so, but this guideline seems very clear, simple and straightforward.

Verification? I assume you mean verified by one of the sources listed in 12.6.4, in which case it wouldn't be verification but new data derived from an acceptable source, as per the above quoted guideline, and noted as such. I've yet to see durations at Discogs verified by comparing from one release to another.
