Anyone else noticed the GR model has gone up by £300 in the UK this year?

I was intertested in buying 2 as there were offers around the £1250 price point for each, retail was £1299 at the time.
Now im looking and pretty much all prices are £1599 for one.

Crazy price increase, anyone know what is going on?

Inflation. Everything is more expensive. I bought a Xone mixer about 2 years ago and I recently noticed that it is now retailing for around €300 more than I paid. Its shite and not limited to Technics

On a side note, if you are thinking of the GR for mixing/DJing bear in mind that it doesn’t appear to have the “instant stop” ability of the other models. Over the years i’ve had a mk2, mk5, GR and mk7, and the GR is the only one that has a bit of travel when you press the stop button. Of course, i may have just got a duff one, but thought i’d mention it

    Are these made in Japan?
Prices should be down because of weak yen.

Technics moved all turntable production to Malaysia in 2021.
The company is still Japanese owned though.

I was under the impression the GR was still made in Japan, while the mk7 is made in Malaysia.

MK7 has always been made in Malaysia.
G and GR were originally made in Japan, now Malaysia.
