Morning,
I've just bought the Concorde Club twin pack and one seems louder than the other. I know there's a break in period of 20 hours according to the instructions, has anyone else had this issue before they are broken in?
Turntables are brand new, anti-skate set to 0, tonearm height at 0, tracking weight 3g, and balanced/setup correctly to 0g before shifting to 3g as per the manual.
Should the tonearm height be higher?
Mixer/speakers etc all fine, I've swapped to the other deck and the quieter one follows the cartridge/stylus. -

If you keep cart the same but swap stylus what happens?
How significant is the volume change if you use the same gain settings on the 2 test channels and the same record?
Try taking the quieter cart out and licking the 4 gold nubs and putting it back in. If that doesnt work try cue-tip and alcohol swab on the 4 golden nubs.
I have a pair of these by the way and I find them to be very consistent. The needles have lasted longer than any of my previous stylii which is a good sign too. -

Tone arm as close to level as possible while resting on a record. Use extra slipmats for shims in case your height adjustment is frozen in place. -

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
It turned out to be the stylus, the dealer swapped it for a brand new one no problem as even he agreed it was faulty.
I have my tonearm height at 0,anti skate at 0, and have balanced the weight correctly and sat at 3g to match the Ortofon guide. Does this sound about right to not absolutely wreck the ortofons or my turntables lol? -

It depends on your setup. You want the tone arm to be level when the needle is on a record. (literally put a small bubble level from the hardware store on it, gently, while turntable powered off and record not spinning). Anti Skate has to be tested on every 1200. You can search youtube for how to test it and set it. I dont think its the most critical setting in the world but if you want to do your setup entirely right, you should set anti-skate too. For years I didnt know what the anti-skate setting did and never had a problem dj'ing. -

I've read for DJ'ing the skate should always be set to 0? My turntables are 1200's, everything seems to be ok, I would just rather have everything set correctly and get as long as I can from my cartridge/stylus. I had turntables around 20+ years ago and never set anti-skate or balanced them properly, literally didn't have a clue haha. I've been CDJ and then digital since, and missed the satisfaction and feel of vinyl so I've gone back to where I started. Full circle. Analogue player in a digital world ;) -

Yea I had CDJs and an MP3 collection for a few years and totally lost interest in that way of collecting music. Its quite boring compared to vinyl. Glad to have you back :) -

Ordered a pack of x4 small spirit bubble levels from ebay, will give it a go when they arrive. Thanks for the tips -

your anti-skate is usually the same as whatever you have weight at. like 3g and 3g. if you have a record that's got a blank side, when you place the needle on the record, if your anti-skate is set right it shouldn't pull itself toward the center, it should basically just sit in place.
