Hi everybody. Please help me choose a good vinyl record cleaning machine that is not too expensive somewhere in the middle price segment. A time-tested manufacturer and model that has proven itself well when used to clean your personal collection: removing deep dirt from the surface and grooves of vinyl records, finger marks, grease stains, etc., and also advise a good liquid for gentle, gentle washing of records, also at an average price segment and a time-tested manufacturer. I would be grateful to all interested of this group for any useful and help on this topic. :-) Sincerely, Svetlana. -

Hi Svetlana! It's not ultrasonic but I've been using a Record Doctor V for several years, with AIVS #6 fluid. The Record Doctor is around $200. The AIVS #6 fluid is d as "one step" but I rinse with distilled water anyway. -

Hi Svetlana, which ever vacuum machine you choose if you go that route, I recommend;
1. Audio Intelligent fluids .... http://www.osageaudio.com/
2. And as the other poster mentioned, ALWAYS rinse with distilled/ultra purified water as a final step. I use Penta water....purchase at many grocery stores.

Humminguru. They were a kickstarter last year. Had mine for months, works amazing. Mid priced. Check out their facebook group for pro tips. -

I have a Glass Audio Desk which works great but is pricey. I am going to do a side by side comparison with Humminguru in the New Year. Much more reasonable price point if it works well. -

Hi Svetlana, Humminguru works fine, trust me. I've been using it since it appeared on Kickstarter. Clean your dirtiest records twice and enjoy. -

Hi Svetlana, i suggest you some 6liter machine as Vevor or stuff like that. You'll bring home a cleaner for less than 180€ and the option to wash deeply from 1 to 4 (6 if you can modify it) records at time. -

Just to weigh in, I broke down and got the HumminGuru...wow, WOW!
Now to echo some others, it's not a magic machine, it will not turn your G+'s into VG+'s, but what I find it does better than a manual spin cleaner (which I used before) is it makes the sound crisper, so your VG's will still be VG's, but a much crisper VG, if that makes sense.
I put my VG 'Back In Black' through it, and it's still technically a VG due to visual marks and some soft pops from wear, but the music is so much clearer now.
But in some cases it will take your records up a play grade, I ran my Michael Rabin Pagnini Caprices box set through it, which IMO was a VG+ after the spin cleaner. It's definitely NM now. The recording has a lot of 'quiet sections' due it being solo violin and you can only the music, no needle noise at all. It's truly amazing.
So, my verdict is the HumminGuru is worth it, with one caveat.
If any of you have ever had to have your teeth cleaned with a high power 'sonic cleaner' at the dentist, the sound of this thing will give PTSD. So I am going to keep it in the basement, cause the high pitch sound it makes when it's cleaning is not pleasant to me (or my dog). -

Thanks for this comment - I'm in the market for a good quality one now and HumminGuru was on the list. And 'lol' on the sound. I already have tinnitus pretty badly - so I'll keep this thing running in the shop instead of the library. -

there's a video review on youtube re the Humminguru machine, he stress tested it and says that it can damage your vinyl if you use it too much. now, keep in mind, this was a stress test, he ran a record through way way more cycles than anyone would ever need to, so it shouldn't really be too off putting, but worth keeping in mind. and perhaps explains why it's cheaper than something like the Degritter

I had the Humminguru machine and I do not recommend it. Bought it when it was still a crowdfunding project. It'a basically a toy, you realize the building quality is not good once you have it on hand. It doesn't wash 45s properly even if with its adapter and......it literally broke down after three washing cycles! Sent it back for a refund......
Degritter imho is the best one, but of course very expensive.

I have the Humminguru and can only speak good things about it, it really has helped improve a lot my listening sessions, I had previously been using a Record Doctor and then an Okki Nokki and neither could achieve the deep cleaning level that the Humminguru achieved. -

Just an update - my HumminGuru is still ing my tests. A lot of my previously, clean VG+ Classical records are now NM quality, very little surface noise anymore. Especially on the 'quieter' quartet or trio type releases. My 1950's Budapest Quartet Beethoven records sound almost brand new.
Some of my older jazz & rock records that have some existing wear, it's been a big improvement, like I said, they are still VG, but much crisper. Still have the soft pops and crackle, which I was expecting as the marks are there permanently no matter what I use.
I did run a bunch of old jazz 10" through, the insert to run this size through took a little work to initially figure out, my first record keep popping out, but once I did got a few done, it made sense and I got the hang of it. It works great and they all sound great.
I have not done any 7" yet, but will try that at some point. -

Okay... If anyone is is still on this thread.
What are the pitfalls of the Vevor Ultrasonic 6 Litre cleaner ?
It's 1/4 the price of the HummimGuru ...Is it 4 times worse than ??
Quality of cleaning fluids seems to be a bigger decision... And what were those "best" fluids again ?? Yes... I get the rinse with distilled water !!! a must.
Just became another victim of the burst water pipe and now mush for LP jackets and inners... but, need to clean vinyl, store well, and then begin the challenge of sourcing deadwax correct jackets...
So... thoughts of Ultrasonic guidance please. -

I’d not heard of the Vevor option before so did some research this morning. On the positive, there are a lot of reviews on the Vevor EU website, saying it does a good job of cleaning records, although it apparently spins too fast and you need to buy a (cheap) “adapter” to reduce the speed. On the negative, many of the Vevor ultrasonic cleaners have been recalled in the UK due to a risk of electrocution (because the earth is not properly secured and can come loose meaning the metal casing becomes live). Bear in mind that this information comes from YT videos (TFTWYW) but it is noticeable that the Vevor UK site doesn’t appear to sell the ultrasonic machines at all (again, TFTWYW). -

If u put a 12v instead of the 24v,it will spin at half rpms. I saw they still sell their cleaners regularly, plus there's a new one for 175€ with adjustable height, that's a real good plus. -

HumminGuru have a new model out, the NOVA.
Offers some improvements over the original model, though whether you feel it's worth the in cost over the original is something you'll have to bear in mind. -

a couple of years ago I bought an industrial type ultrasonic bath big enough to clean 6x 7" discs on a home made spindle. It does a decent job. Ultrasonics don't clean off fingerprints so a manual wet scrub is also needed. I can't compare to a HumminGuru ... but then I don't know how that compares to a Glass Audio Desk?
I'm in the process of setting up a line with spin bath, vacuum and ultra sonic bath (currently looking for a used Vevor or similar for 12"s).
