    Hey Team -

I have a pair of first gen Ortofon Concorde DJ cartidges (blue ones)

Had put the decks away for a while and brought them back but need a new stylus.
Do the new models of concorde DJ stylus (MK II) work with the old cartidges? I read that they are compatible but also saw reviews that they are not.

Wondering if there is value in upgrading to new cartridges all together? Thoughts?

***Using Technics MKII tables for reference***

    Thanks!

Thanks Rugogs - do you know if there is a good reason to MKII or do you feel there is little difference between the two models?
If its just a marginal change and doesn't significantly reduce wear on the wax I see no point in spending the cash on the new ones

Yeah Mark that was the one I was looking at moving to. The club or the DJ MKII

Or any of the newer models that treat the vinyl better.
I've been out of the loop for the last ten years and thought this group would have solid first hand experience

I have the Ortofon DJ E at present.
For now, I ordered a new DJ E stylus so that I could get spinning.
But I'm very much interested in preserving vinyl if the new line of products helps.

I've owned the DJ with E as you're using and I'm using the MKII now. If i'm being honest I wouldn't be able to tell the carts apart in a blind sound test. The biggest reason to move to the MKII carts would be that it likely will be easier to buy new stylii into the future, but if MKII styli work with your DJ already that is an irrelevant argument.

You might also find that the MKII latches to the tonearm a little bit better, so if you have a tonearm that is finicky on ing left and right channels consistently the MKII would the cart I would want in that situation over the DJ.
