This individual has been regularly vandalizing the database for over a year,and has been banned previously. I am certain this particular individual has significant mental health issues, but once banned a month or two later pops up with a new id and starts his campaign. Though this time has gone too far.
Why cant a few regular long term (who can be seen to contribute most days) be given the power to immediately stop such offenders block an for 48 hours which would give staff to review and permanently ban. Surely this would help preserve the database and limit the damage done.

Any chance you guys could make some kind of priority request to be used when things like this happen? When I first saw this thread he had only five pendings, 30 minutes later he was up to 26 pendings. The only reason he could do any damage was because there was no way of getting a quick response from anyone who could ban him. It might not seem like a big deal for staff , but staff doesn't have to clean up this mess either.

on a personal note, i think that what's happening must definitely be considered as a turning point for this site: i can't deal anymore with this vandalism.
while discogs relies on 's both help and knowledge to build the most complete music database in the WWW, a single DI**HEAD with mental health issues can vandalize the database in a matter of hours: frankly this has become utterly unacceptable.
we're dealing with annoying korean casino spammer since years, and the staff policy is to ban their s, that we s (or, at this point, guardian angels) report when damage is done (or being done).
do staff really can't do more? do staff really can't prevent this?
at this point, much more sctrict rules must be introduced for newcomers (a very limited amount of submission / changes that must be approved by more experienced s, for instance).
it's under our eyes: any crazoid / spammer / idiot is able to do what he pleases, and this happens because staff is not able or has not the will / force to avoid this.

Restrictions on edits isn't the way to go.

A stop-button on profiles is better. If 5 (or 10) voters vote to freeze a profile it will be frozen for 48 hours and a staff member is alerted to review. This way submitters won't be affected but spammers will be halted within a few minutes.

I don't know if this related: but I have been getting loads of 408 request imeout errors when browsing the site, trying to add items to my collection, send messages. Forget about trying to edit a release or add images, it goes nowhere. First time I've encountered this performance problem on the site (using web only, checked everything on my end, and no issues with other sites or in general presently). Apologies if this is unrelated coincidence, I just thought it reminiscent of a site / DB responding sporadically due to DOS / spam activity - which obviously has been going on.

Could this possibly raised for with a certain reputation/rank? When I go browsing and encounter missing/surplus MRs (or accidentally created a surplus) this is really annoying since you need to bookmark these and wait 24 hours for each of them...I think I never had to delete more than 3 MRs at once - so having a limit of 3 or 5 would be sufficient.

Also I tried searching for messed out MRs and unfortunately it didn't find "http://jayzuell.com" or "jayzuell" in anything.
