Massive Attack – Protection

Sounds good, but reaaally quiet mastering — of all the records in my collection, this one might require the highest volume

Sounds great - just the odd click here and there towards the end of side A but it's a really deep, nice sounding pressing overall. Eurochild sounds immense and Weather Storm, which I used to feel quite indifferent towards, is just beautiful with the piano really filling up the stereo field.

I used to own an original press but it wasn't in the best condition and for such a quiet album you do need a good quality copy. Either way, this cut won't disappoint if you play it back on a good system. A mark off because the artwork isn't quite as sharp as the original, but you'd only notice if you compared them side by side.

Lots of pops and clicks, surface noise and Better things has a terrible bass distortion . Not the pressing i expected. The 2012 pressing is way better.

Can someone help confirm if there is a matrix runout for this press? Thanks!

There is sibilance on all of the pressings of this album

This is a brilliant album that should be in everybody's collection. My only complaint about Massive Attack albums is that there's not enough of them.

Last track kills this album . Nothing against it , but it just doesn't fit this otherwise perfect album .

Two lots of Massive Attack test pressings were auctioned for the Brits Foundation this year at Omega Auctions. This is one of them, it was part of a lot with No Protection, 100th Window and Heligoland. The second lot had Blue Lines and Mezzanine, and actually sold for more than the bigger lot worth more (as 100th Window was never reissued officially and Heligoland is expensive to buy)
Unfortunately, the 1 owner you see here isn’t me, because I lost!

I have nothing but love for MA and this record sounds pristine… ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

No problems here. Weather Storm sounds especially good good good.
