Edited 4 years agoA massive collection of Bizarre Uproar material spread across three CDs and one DVD. The three CDs contain an array of tracks from various 7"s, splits, a full un-mastered and un-edited LP recording session and more. The DVD of course contains four live performances full of the audio, visual, and performance based elements that BU is known for.
My favorite BU material is when he goes for the high end frequency and junk metal style. The Unsafe And Insane on the third disc are my favorite from this set. Absolutely punishing harsh noise in that vain done expertly well. This set is probably worth it for these recordings alone.
My other favorites from the set are the first two tracks on disc one that make up the Filth split. These tracks have more low end and crunch than the disc 3 material and use a wider array of frequencies well. The Musta Rotta 7" is notably solid and I think it's one of the artist's personal favorites as it has been re-released on multiple CD sets at this point.
I found the two live tracks (1-6 and 2-1) to be kind of disappointing. BU's live performance seems to take into equal three elements: the noise (audio), video portions (visual), and the performance aspect (action). Listening to these tracks, I can immediately notice that the audio is in fact one portion of the live performance and not the main focus. They don't carry well as audio only documents and don't have the same punch as the studio tracks. Luckily, the DVD makes up for these shortcomings and you get to experience the full BU spectrum with all elements intact.
Overall, a collection that covers an array of studio and live material across both audio and visual mediums that ranges from excellent to mediocre but in the end stands as a solid document of Bizarre Uproar.
