In honor of the 20th Anniversary of Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite. This LP package comes with an 8-page booklet that includes rare images from the original album and single photo shoots.
The booklet also includes a very special pair of revelatory new essays: 1) an appreciation of Maxwell and his music by noted R&B scholar, music/culture critic, journalist and filmmaker Nelson George; and 2) a behind-the-scenes reminiscence on the making of Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite penned by music industry veteran Mitchell Cohen, who, as Senior Vice President of A&R at Columbia Records, signed Maxwell to the label and helped shepherd the music from raw concept to full realization.

Great music but horrible vinyl pressing with lot of surface noise and not talking about track one -
Edited 4 months agoExtremely classic music on such a catastrophically pressing media. All four sides have a obvious noise which happens only once in all my 40 vinyls. Beautiful is not enough for a sound media. The essential is SOUND! -
If you want this just for the vinyl experience it's cool, but please note that sounds NOTICEABLY WORSE than the CD or what is streaming. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR SOUND QUALITY. IT IS A SIGNIFICANT DOWNGRADE FROM OTHER SOURCES. NOT an audiophile reissue. -

This album sounds incredible. One of my best sounding records. Such a full sound. Couldn’t be more happy tbh. -
I will never understand why you’d release a 2-disc LP and NOT do a gatefold, but aside from that complaint, this is a great pressing of an incredible record. Just a note, there is supposed to be a scratchy sound on side 1, track 1. It was meant to mimic an old record. Which is weird, when you’re listening to a new one, I grant you, but it’s intentional.

For anyone complaining about excessive surface noise, y'all know that there is a surface noise loop that is part of side 1 track 1. The joke is officially on you.
My copy sounds VERY clean and fantastic. -
Edited 3 years agoThis is a great neo-soul album - still in 2022 it has stood the test of time. The 1st track is supposed to have the "vinyl effect" surface noise,it`s also present on my cd copy. Disc 1(sides 1&2) play some surface noise (8/10) my copy not bad but not perfect.With things getting a little worse(but bearable)from disc 2(side 3 onwards) it`s wasn`t bad enough for me to return & it is not intrusive to the music on the LP overall.
If you can still grab a decent copy oF this classic in mint or near mint condition then do It will only go up in price & will give you shed loads of listening pleasure. It does seem that a large percentage of these are not great but,if you can put up with some surface noise on the run-ins/outs as most of this LP is fairly loud/dynamic you`ll be just fine,my two discs are absolutely flat btw.
