Classic golden age Hip-Hop album from rapper Rob Base and D.J. E-Z Rock. Full of boasting raps, funky cut-up samples and crackin’ Roland 808 beats.
Check out the mighty ‘It Takes Two’ with that much sampled “Whoo…yeah!” James Brown/Lyn Collins sample and drum break, the laid-back groove of ‘Joy & Pain’, ‘Make It Hot’ which manages to mash-up samples of James Brown, Boney M and Thin Lizzy, and the hard bangin’ groove of ‘Check This Out’ which samples the mighty bass-line from ‘It’s Just Begun’ by The Jimmy Castor Bunch. The album concludes with the massive jam ‘Creativity’, which slays with a funky backbone sampled from one of the mightiest grooves ever: James Brown’s ‘Give It Up or Turnit a Loose’.
