Not getting the hate on this pressing at all.
My copy kicks serious a**. Compared to my 2023 reissues of red, blue, and yellow&green, this is on par if not better -
Edited one year agoThis is the only album that I encountered that still has actual music content (sound?) in the A-side runout groove. The sound also loops in the digital version for a couple of times before having to fade out.
Neat.
What's not neat is the mix and mastering, though that horse died a long time ago.
Shame, as one can only imagine how incredible this highly emotional album would sound with a dynamic & clear mastering. -
Not sure what the deal is with the issues presented by others with this pressing. While the mixing is definitely something people have been contentious about since the album released, I found my copy enjoyable and thoroughly listenable. Didn't have any issues with the overall sound quality for my copy. Also not sure whether there are differences in pressings - mine was listed as 180-gram and this is the only applicable entry for a 180-gram pressing of the album, but I'm unsure as to whether this has changed pressing plants over the years since its release.

I love this band but unfortunately this record is unlistenable. It is far and away the worst sounding album I'm my collection, and I have an original US stereo Magical Mystery Tour so that's saying something.

Edited 3 years agoSweet pressing. Sometimes feel expectations are outside reasonable, or equipment used is subpar. We would all benefit from commenters on fidelity and soundstages sharing what system they are using. This LP has a wall-of-sound effect, and my Rega RP3, with Dynavector 10x5 through Parasound HINT 6 to ATC SCM11s fills up the listening room with huge emotion and visceral detail and gut-punching experience. Baroness was made for vinyl, analog for metal is really the only viable choice. PS - I am happy to own this and other Baroness LPs for the artwork alone. :)

I love Baroness and this is potentially my favorite album of theirs, but this pressing is a massive disappointment. Very muddy. Sounds like a blanket is over everything. I like having the record, as the artwork is beautiful, but I honestly prefer just listening to the MP3 version as for some reason it sounds much better to me.
I'm not saying don't buy, but don't expect a very engaging listening experience here even if you love the album.
Buy it in some form or another though! This is a future classic. -

Why is this listed as UK & US? Isn't this a US pressing, that happens to be on sale throughout the rest of the world as well? What's the UK part in this?
