Edited one year agoI decided to buy this today as I sold a couple of bits at a record fair. It's one of my favourite albums of all time! I only have an early 80s repress and a remasted CD. This 45rpm is pretty decent. I can hear extra details in the mix as I always found the album not one of the best recordings to be honest. I'm happy with it. Anybody else notice "Down The Dolce Vita" never sounded this good. The orchestra comes alive! “Excuse Me” and “Humdrum” sound incredible too.

I usually find that reissues of older albums lose a lot of the top end, but this is very, very good. At least as good as my original, and in many ways better. By comparison, I had the Classic reissues of these and got rid of all of them except So and ion, which being digital didn't suffer from tape degradation. For some reason, Security wasn't that great.

Listening to #5729 of this release right now. I cant say how good this record is. It sounds beautiful and spacious. The record is clean and noise free. Its flat. This version truly brings PG1 into your home. That being said...I did get a bummer the first time. The company sent a replacement right away..this one..and it was perfect.

Bought one from Amazon, exactly the same, but without limited edition number. First record - disc one is warped a little, playable, disc two warped so bad, it picks tonearm off the record! Replacement came in 2 days (great customer service from Amazon) - disc one warped worse than first time, disc two warped a little, playable. So, I can make one usable set out of two. Unacceptable quality control! Also it doesn't sound much better than regular new 180 Gram record ( maybe just limitations of my equipment ). I'd stay away from this one. 33rpm LP for about half a price should be just fine.

Additionally, this recording has very little dynamic range compression (0.1 as measured by DRC-Meter).

These limited edition, numbered, 45 rpm half-speed master editions are awesome. They are whisper quiet and have a very strong signal (+1.5 dB on my scale). They also come with a free digital and you can select 24-bit, 48 kHz hi-resolution versions. In addition the LPs come in beautiful gatefold jackets (even if the original album was not gatefold). They are produced directly by Peter Gabriel’s company and so they are done right. These albums are my most prized and loved possessions.
I am a huge Peter Gabriel fan and had to get them all. Peter Gabriel 1 (Car) is one of my favorites—it has “Solsbury Hill” on it! The production and mastering on this version is precisely perfect—a joy to listen to.
