AlexRox2 - Also, I've listened to this on cassette, and don't it sounding that different. I honestly had no idea that trk8 ever had a spoken word section until I got rid of my CD edition and bought another one a few months later. Other than that, the differences that Mike and Erik refer to are rather minor and, as indicated, don't always apply to the same tracks. There are alternate versions of the 4 tracks referred to by Mike. Not the whole album. There may have been other differences on the original vinyl vs the CD editions... if so, that is a little intriguing...could you maybe suggest where I can read more about this? -
AlexRox2 - It doesn't really make sense that a CD edition would have been withheld when this title was originally released. By 1987, CDs were making pretty good traction in the market although by no means were they something everyone was using.. Even today, where physical media is presumed dead by people who apparently think Walmart etc just has it there for decorative purposes (🤔), most releases have a CD edition. If Taylor Swift is still putting her music out on CD, I'm sure Michael Jackson would have been back in 1987.

This seems to be a transition between the original Bad recording and the later versions because "Bad" does not feature the horn parts during chorsous, IJCSLY comes WITHOUT intro (misprinted on coverartwork) and Smooth Criminal comes without breathing intro. Songs like TWYMMF and Dirty Diana are still in their original form, TWYMMF with no ad-libs at the end and Dirty Diana running 4:52 minutes compared to the 4:41 minutes used single mix.
