Notes
RCA, Rockaway pressing, identified by "R" etched [side A] or stamped [side B] in runouts opposite the matrix number.
Many plate variants exist.
• Runouts with WPRS-0549/0550 matrix numbers all seem to be stamped
• Runouts with WPRS-549/550 matrix numbering (without the zero) were etched
• Individual pressings may combine stamped and etched versions.
• On side B of Variants 2 and 5 the matrix number was incorrectly stamped as "WPRS-0551", so "550" was hand-etched over the 551, with an additional "550" etched directly underneath.
Issued with Brumus poster/lyric/credit insert
Catalog number LSP-4058 on sleeve, LSP 4058 on labels.

Edited one year agoCROWN OF CREATION is one of the Airplane's more inconsistent albums, with a few filler tracks ("In Time", "Share a Little Joke", Chushingura"), but the highs are very high indeed. "Lather" is one of the best drug songs out there, as Grace Slick sings about a boy who never left boyhood, with oodles of metaphorical drug references sprinkled in. David Crosby's "Triad" (sung by Slick) is also a first side highlight. Side two is stronger and considerably harder-edged, with "If You Feel" providing Marty Balin's strongest performance on the album. Slick's "Greasy Heart" is another solid cut, and "House on Pooneil Corners" brings things to a suitably psychedelic close. This pressing sounds pretty good, although a couple of the tunes (particularly the title track) sound slightly muffled at times. My copy looks beautiful, but there's minor surface noise throughout.

Love it. I once only liked it, but over the years I’ve grown to really dig it.
Seems tough to get a good copy, the vinyl is a bit noisy, but it’s fine with the music playing. Just need to dial in the bass/treble a bit.
Whatever, it’s a must own album. All the Jefferson Airplane is worth owning.
