Wow, not only the best free cd from mixmag but to my liking one of the best cd ever. This cd you can buy very cheap (around £2.50) on ebay these days. Im not heavily into drum n bass but this cd got me hook line and sinker. It isnt your typical drum n bass and not your typical crap trance sound, this mix has a atmosheric feel to it and there are traces of john b's unique signiture 'thunder sounds' found in alot of songs. After buying this cd in early 2002 through the years i have collected all of john b's work, i have even ed all of his pocasts from his website and exstracted all the songs i like with Audacity (if any one would like a copy id be happy to send one). I have collected some of the albums from tracklist authors, i enjoyed Concord dawn - Uprising and Chaos by design (although i was a bit dissapointed with Chaos by design). I am currently seeking any other atmosheric trance n bass, has anybody got any good recommendations? Thank you for reading jogn b enthusiasts.

Edited 2 years agoGosh. This free CD was something different, same as Kmag's Limewax & SPL freebie darkstep mix. I will be one of the most hated drum&bass reviewers here, but Trance 'n' Bass is top notch, and definitely has its moments.
This was the crowning moment of the now non-existent (not sure if it actually ever existed) trance and bass, or more like trancestep scene.
I think some further suggestions would fit in here, this subgenre is quite small. My 2 cents:
Counterstrike - V (Cell, 2003)
Counterstrike - Africanism(Outbreak, 2004)
any drum n bass remix/vip/dubplate/whatever of The Calling by Technical Itch & Kemal
Concord Dawn - Take Me Away (Ill.Skillz Remix) Commercial Suicide, 2011)
Rawthang - Scorned (BSE, 2003)
Eye-D - Unicorn MF (Black Sun Empire Remix) (Citrus, 2003)
Sta & Paul B - Secrets Inside (DSCI4, 2003)
the essential: Faith In Chaos - Possession (Kemal & Rob Data Remix) (Outbreak, 2001)
Subsonik - Communicate (Cymbalism, 2007)
Hyper On Experience - Disturbance (Concord Dawn Remix) (Moving Shadow, 2003)
Klute - Tranceformat (Commercial Suicide, 2001)

Edited 19 years agoThis cd is the best covermount mixmag have given out, apart from mauro picotto's 'rush hour' mix. This is agood mix from Mr.B, kicking off nicely with a couple of cracking tunes by himself. 'Electrofreek has some nice bass coupled with coo; atmospherics and heavy beats. 'Blue Eyeshadow' is a bit 'Blue Monday' with the beats like innit? The Concord Dawn Tunes are pretty heavy, as well as the C4C, Raiden, Kemal and Tech-Itch, and Klute's 'Tranceformat' is a corker. But the tune I can't stop playing is 'Severed Dreams by Teebee. What a tune! I really love and want this tune so much. The nice trancey pads are amazing coupled with cool beats and percussion.
all in all this is simply one cd that will be treasured for years to come. Trancin'!....
