The heaviest “commercial” rock record ever made? Yes. Still, after all this time a fantastic album? Absolutely! So many great songs here. I’m happy to report that my pressing is awesome. This album is a must own. Highly recommended.

Holy ####! Two of the mightiest slabs of metal hot-wax of all-time. Must be ####ing CRANKED! This sumbitch pounds HARD! As it should. Vinyl is also dead-silent on my copy. A mastering & pressing par excellance which clearly seperates the wheat from the chaff, stereo-wise that is. Just sayin'...

The Unforgiven , my all time Metallica track . This pressing is good , clean mastering with almost no surface noise . Only slight issue is its slight curve bump in the high frequency , just reminds me of sony mdr-v7506 headphones with that sibilance , both pro's and cons depends on usage . A good iconic Metallica album to have . will get the 1991 pressing if i come across in the future .

When I first bought this pressing, I had a Sony turntable that had no counter weight. At that point there were skips on "Through the Never" but after slightly upgrading, I've found this pressing to play fine and sound far superior to the 2021 issue.

Edited 2 years agoGot my copy back in 2016, has many skips mostly side 3. But the sound quality itself is great.
But I haven’t listen to it in its entirety because I don’t really care for this era of Metallica. In fact, it’s my only copy. Meanwhile I have handfuls of great sounding copies of all their 80s releases, and those deluxe box sets of the 4 albums. But I’m wondering if I should buy a different reissue of TBA on vinyl, one that doesn’t skip. But then again, I don’t know if the copy I buy will skip, I really don’t want to waste money. Anyone know of a great pressing I can try to find used? -
I’ve just done a comparison with this & the 2021. Both cut by CB. This one is definitely better to my ears. Much more ooommph in the lower end & not as bright as the 2021.

Anyone getting distortion on this pressing has either setup their cartridge wrong or are using a very basic stylus.
