Edited one year agoThis from Guy Massay at Abbey Road remastered edition is absolutely magnificent. You should compare it with one of the original pressings, which ere also very good. From the sound it's not a quantum leap, but an increase of the dynamic/loudness!
The listening pleasure is different at every vinyl and it depends which stylus/cartridge system/turntable, you like to prefer...
The cover art is different to the original. That's OK and makes it different to the original release. Unfortunately is missing the explanatory words from Mark Burgess on the back sleeve of the original pressing. -

Edited 3 years agoTip for anyone picking up a new copy: my copy was pretty noisy, especially between tracks even after giving it a wash in a Spin Clean. After a play I noticed a bit of build up on my stylus looking at it with a USB microscope (I couldn't see it with the naked eye). I cleaned the stylus and played the album a few times w/o listening to it to get the rest out. After doing so the vinyl is dead silent. This is ultimately an excellent pressing, it just has some pressing residue from the factory. Give it a clean and or a few plays and it should clean right up. Just be sure to clean your stylus after each side and you should be good.

Edited 4 years agoSuch an incredible remaster. Sounds so clear and with great dynamic range. I compared this to a copy of the original 7 inch single "A Person isn't Safe Anywhere These Days", and it's really close in quality. Most of the time, I've found that original pressings sound much better than the remaster. But in this case, it's super close, if not, a little better. Can't recommend this pressing enough. Only issue I have with it is the cover. It's a serious downgrade from the beautiful original artwork. But it looks okay enough. Overall, a really great remaster, and worth getting. Especially since the original is pretty hard to come by.

I have the exact copy, but the sticker on the shrink is different, actually it is the sticker of the numbered "1000 copies" release. Is this a misprtint version ??
-
The original didn't have a gatefold sleeve, and yes the artwork is bit different but WOW the sound is pure crisp and bold, couldn't be happier one of the best pressings I have listened too. Just waiting for their third album to get a reissue.
-
I would prefer a gatefold release, with the original artwork. However, the remaster is excellent, so a good add to my collection.
-
What a failure of a rerelease. cover print of the artwork is a disaster and why 2 LPs and than no gatefold?
-
The remaster is excellent the sound is punchy and pristine, but as has been said before it's let down by the artwork. A single album sleeve, not a gatefold.

Edited 7 years agoI heard this reissue before and yes the quality of the sound is really good, but independently of that, the sleeve art is altered so bad that it looks really ugly. so I ended up buying the Uk 1983 version. in my opinion sounds much better in comparisson to this re-issue. After all, it's the original sound.
