Edited 10 months agoThe genre was achieving incredible new things at this time, one of the strongest comps along with Order Odonata 1, this one being probably even more technically advanced. Incredible this was only a year or so after Project II Trance, which I enjoy, but let's be honest this is another level of electronic musical ability.
The Mandra Gora track is the only questionable one here. It's alright, but sounds like it's remnants of Project II Trance and a little different sounding than the rest of TIP Yellow.
Simon Posford produces a whopping 7 songs, how about that. Only two tracks appear on artist long players, Shamanix and Stimuli. And no I'm not counting Doof since this version is a slightly different mixdown that the album version of Let's Turn On. -
Majority of tracks on this compilation were previously released on vinyl:
1. The Infinity Project - Stimuli, TIP Records (1994)
2. Doof - Let's Turn On, TIP Records (1995)
3. Slinky Wizard - Lunar Juice, Flying Rhino Records (1994)
4. Man With No Name - Teleport (Dragonfly Records, 1994)
7. Total Eclipse - Waiting For A New Life, TIP Records (1994)
9. The Infinity Project - Uforica, TIP Records (1994)
11. Mandra Gora - Everything's Going Fine, Gaia Tonträger (1994)
Even though I generally don't have much respect for compilations that contain previously released tracks, TIP Yellow compilation is exception because none of these tracks were released on CD before. The main reason why is this complication considered as historical is that it gathered 11 great tracks at one place and made them available for broader audience which resulted in great promotion of Goa Trance that was still a new style of Electronic music back in 1995. Other Shiva colors compilations released on TIP Records were also very good, but Yellow complication was first in series and most important as such. -
Edited 18 years ago“7am as the day begins, the drug is inhaled to introduce the strange language of the initiation rights ...”
Every legend has a beginning and the legend of TIP Records begins here. I reckon that what The Doors and Jimi Hendrix is to the hippies of the seventies and what Beatles and Rolling Stones is to the sixties so TIP is to the goa follower. Together with a few other labels TIP truly introduced something new in the midnineties and on Yellow Compilation you get a wide selection of the best at their best. Sure, a lot of bands didn’t make the cut. Astral Projection, Etnica, Koxbox, X-Dream, Cosmosis ... But look who IS there?! The Infinity Project, Doof, MWNN, Hallucinogen, Total Eclipse. Hell, they even got Space Tribe onboard :o)
If you’re into that ol’ classic goa sound start hunting. This is the epiphany of the trippy, diverse, old skool insane psychedelic shaman medicine that TIP got famous for. And as you can probably tell, I like it :o)
