The A-side here of course is a classic; one of the biggest songs of the 80's and of the rock 'n' roll era, if not the quirkiest. Yet despite the numerous covers of "Doves" and the who knows how many white labels and bootleg remixes of said A-side, the song that really stands the test of time here is "17 Days" which showcased Prince's affinity for post-60's neo-psychedelic funk-rock and Revolution Lisa's and Wendy's 'background' vocals that leap right out of the speakers and would ultimately foreshadow their own incredible talent. "17 Days" - which could have easily been the lead single to "Around The World In A Day" - also foreshadowed the incredible talent the Revolution (with Prince as a member and not necessarily the lead) had as one cohesive unit and ulitmately serves to be the Revolution's first masterpiece - a very Prince-like irony for the song that serves as the B-side to what really ended up being one of Prince's quasi-solo masterpieces, "When Doves Cry."
