Unfortunately, side 1 is just a fold-down of the stereo mix, not the true mono mix.
I Am The Walrus does have 4 opening beats instead of 6 as it should, but it clearly is the stereo version with the first two beats cut. After the orchestral break when the "Sitting in my english garden..." lyrics start the sound quality drops down and a very weird phasing effect is noticeable. This is due to the stereo mix being half true stereo and half duophonic because the radio broadcast at the end was mixed directly onto the mono version. -
Fun fact, this mono versión includes the Chorus on Blue Jay Way, which isn't include in the British/American mono versión but is in the stereo version
